Lolitta Dandoy Instagram – I met Dapper Dan !!!!
I had an amazing month of May! Sooo busy, but filled with what keeps me so passionate about work… and life! My most surreal moment was definitely meeting @dapperdanharlem, a man I admire greatly because of his incredible story and the tremendous impact he’s had in recent fashion history!
I’ve had the chance to teach about Dapper Dan in my Fashion History course at @collegelasalle & for a Fashion in Hip Hop workshop I built for @fwdmovements … and every time, the students eyes light up! I think that what speaks to us is the idea that no matter where you come from, if you are passionate and have faith in yourself, you can achieve anything!
That is of course one of the things that drew me to his story… but what resonates with me above all is his vision of style (slide 4). To Dapper Dan fashion is magic because it can transform the way people see you, feel about you… and I couldn’t agree more! I’ve said it many times, to me fashion is far from superficial – that’s THE reason why @toutlemondeshabille exists – and it makes me so happy that someone I admire so much feels the same way!
Meeting an idol can be tricky because sometimes you prefer the image you had in your head, but let me tell you that he is beyond what I had imagined! Kind, authentic, passionate, inspirational and oh soo fresh! Like @martinemontreal said “If we were living in a world in which it was survival of the freshest, Dapper Dan would be the last man standing!”
