It was inspired by the Bible verse Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.”I wrote this song in a time where I began to lose my sense of purpose & began accommodating the identity society always tries to create for us. One of constant comparison resulting in feelings of intense anxiety & self doubt causing us to lose value in ourselves. So I wrote it all down in my journal which became this song about recognizing our conformity to the world & the negative things in it that we allow ourselves to be tied to & controlled by – much like a puppet. We’re all guilty of being Pinocchios, but we have access to scissors.
