Feels like a bit of a cooler to get the ‘ol AJ suited three-handed against an agressive chip leader, on the money bubble. Almost 32% equity all-in preflop, can I get there? 🍀 #poker #NGNF #pokergo #pokerlife #gamer

Oh hey, Vegas. I’m in you. Time for the annual World Series of Poker grind. Here’s to another year of finding bags, getting THE bag, meeting new people, making plans to see someone that never materializes, saying hi as you rush past in the hallway, not being able to find your table, seeing the same person in the bathroom on breaks, congratulating a friend on their big score, discovering that new GTO dinner break spot, and having a sense of gratitude all the while for the opportunity to do this! What’s something typical of your #poker summer camp experience that you would add to the list? #mindsport #gamer #womeninpoker #pokerplayer
I set the trap but @darylmorey gets away with a nice read, and instead, Simon gets ensnared trying to bluff into my trips! Fun times on @pokergo’s “No Gamble, No Future.” #poker #pokernight #pokerface

This year, on my birthday, I am opting for a moment of solitude and quiet reflection as I wake up feeling ever-grateful for the air in my lungs, my able body that takes me on life’s adventures, the roof over my head that provides me comfort, and the warmth from loved ones that have wrapped me up in their love on my best days and on my worst days. With age comes the wisdom to appreciate and experience life as it comes, to not look so far into the future that you forget to enjoy the present. It’s not about ignoring the worries or the challenges that come your way; it’s about knowing you have the strength to overcome them. These days, I find myself caring so much less about what others think of me and so much more about putting in the work behind the scenes. Diverting my energy in this way has brought me a greater sense of peace than acceptance from others ever will. This is why today, I will simply celebrate being one day closer to the best version of myself. #birthday #travel #thoughtoftheday

As the beginning of a new year is upon us, it is only natural to find ourselves in a state of reflection. Many people take the time to create a video of the highlights of the past year, but as I sat here contemplating whether or not I should do the same, it struck me that even though my heart is full of good memories, there is something that remains unfulfilled for me. My main takeaway as I look back on #2022 and ahead at #2023 is a strong desire to add more value to the people and things that matter most and lead a more purpose-driven life. There are many causes and newfound passions that have taken hold of my heart over the last decade, but what strides have I made to make these things part and parcel of my life on a day-to-day basis? A sense of fear has been holding me back from traversing these unfamiliar waters, but I’m tired of living in a state of comfortability without growth. If you can relate to this in any way, I encourage you to take those first steps into the unknown with me. May we encourage each other to explore the best within ourselves. Now that is something to toast about! #HappyNewYear, my friends.
Are you feeling holiday fab or in a holiday funk? If the glitz and cheer of the holiday season makes you feel stressed, anxious, or lonely instead – you’re not alone. According to the American Psychological Association, 38% of people surveyed said their stress increased during the holiday season. The added stress over the holiday months can lead to increased physical illness, depression and anxiety symptoms, emotional eating and other unhealthy habits, and alcohol and substance misuse. Why are the holidays so challenging sometimes? People often feel that during the holidays, they lack time and energy to do everything they need to at work and at home. Financial pressures build when your family and friends want to go on holiday trips and attend special events. Thinking about who you need to prepare gifts for and what you should buy adds more to your cognitive load. The holidays is also a time where people reflect on losses in their lives, so grief can take over and make it difficult to feel joyous. Finally, increased family gatherings brings up unresolved issues and make it even more difficult to get into the holiday spirit. Knowing this and being prepared will make all the difference. This is the time to commit to your mental wellness even more. Check out my top tips below! 1. Make sure you stick to routines. Your brain will love you for it and knowing what to expect helps you to get the R and R you need. 2. Do one self-care/mental wellness activity a day. As long as it’s intentional, even a super short one (like 10 deep breaths) will make a big difference for your mental resilience. 3. Know your limits. You can’t be all things to all people and take on everything and do it well. This is the season to prioritize and learn to say no to extra obligations. “How you doing?” *Joey Tribbiani voice* (and if you don’t know who that is, then I’m old AF)
Quiet reflection and solitude weren’t things I valued much when I was younger. I always wanted to be where the action was and often found myself with FOMO. As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized it’s ok to say no to places, people, and things that don’t serve me, even if it means being by myself. I’ve now come to seek out and cherish these moments of self-discovery. #thoughtoftheday #peace #beach #views

What an honor to be invited to give a TEDx talk in San Diego today at @ucsandiego. The theme of this conference is “Expiration Date,” and I will be offering insight on how to optimize your decision-making process through the lens of my almost two decades of experience as a professional high-stakes poker player. Poker has given me so many tools that I’ve been able to apply in my everyday life away from the tables, and I’m excited to share that with others. As someone who makes decisions based off of imperfect information for a living, and as an avid student of human behavior, I’m looking forward to sharing my unique perspective on decision making and its profound impact on our lives. #TEDx #decisionmaking #publicspeaking #speech #keynote #talk #poker #coach
