Molly C. Quinn Instagram – There comes a time in every dog’s life, when they must abandon our world, and leave their loved ones behind, in order to travel to their final destination: Planet Dog. Yesterday was that day for Piper. She was born on October 4th, 2009, and gifted all who knew her with over 14 years of joy, laughter, and demands for food. She held many great titles over the course of her tenure, including gate defender, snack lieutenant, and pupperoni sommelier, before being promoted to her highest post: Secretary of the Interior (of our hearts). Piper was a wonderful role model to her younger sister, Pikachu, and to her roommates, Molly and Elan. All who spent time with her were charmed by her commanding presence despite being the size of a small bird. In accordance with tradition, as she travels to Planet Dog, she will watch her loved ones via satellite feed, as they mourn her departure while celebrating her life: a life that was full of adventure, great food, and an abundance of hugs and kisses. She stayed on Earth for 5,117 days, and in every single one of them, she was loved beyond measure, and she gave love back, without hesitation or restraint. Our hearts are broken, but that’s okay, because they are also very full, and continue to be filled, again and again, with memories and stories and dreams of Piper, our sweetest little friend. She was, and will continue to be, the foundation that our small family is built upon, and that is something that can never change. Her final wish was to let everyone know she had a great time, she lived her life to the fullest, and she wants you to do the same. To honor her memory and her trip to Planet Dog, please have a bite of salami today, and as the salty cured meat dances on your tongue, know that she is with you. We love you, Piper.
