Sooo…. How DO you stay fabulously sober in a big city like NYC where the go to is always “let’s grab a drink!”!?! The answer truthfully is with a lot of determination! But there are some simple tips that help me a lot…. 1. Do little things to remind your heart exactly what you’re fighting for. Taking time to sit with myself to reflect on new life determination helps me so much to stay committed to a healthier non-drinker lifestyle. 2. Find support. Calling a friend helps you feel not so alone in what can at first feel like a very isolating journey. 3. Take a nap… or lots of them! Taking on life head on without vices that once helped us to survive trauma and hardship is very challenging and exhausting. When in doubt, take a nap. 4. Deep breaths… take it one day, one minute, one moment at a time…. You only have to live in the moment. Hope this helps. There are certain things that committing myself to being a non-drinker has taught me…. First of all, life just feels SOOOOO much more fabulous. 1. My skin is literally aging backwards… wellness practices for my health like staying hydrated and caring for my body shows…. 2. And that goes from the inside out. I can feel the glow up in my confidence. 3. This decision allowed me the opportunity to LOVE myself in ways I had never done or felt before…. From the care I put into my life and body, to the visceral emotion and gratitude I have for my life now! 4. Life is going to be challenging regardless, only now it’s so much easier to find joy in every moment… exactly where I am! 5. A large part of this journey has been spiritual growth and trusting the universe has my back! Allowing that love to fill me, let’s me know im always supported, no matter how challenging things may get… What do you guys think? Funny how taking one thing out of my life, gave me SOOO much more! Count down to 2 years of being alcohol free July 1st!
Counting down to my celebration of 2 years sober on July 1st, I got to sample one of the BVI’s most delicious mocktails! The “Non-Alcoholic Gin Basal Smash” was quite the treat…. With aromas that reminded me of Italy in the Basil, summer time in the citrus and the sea salt washing up on the ocean breeze…. My senses were in store for a treat. This was a 4D experience with the warmth of the Caribbean sunset glowing over us while dinner was served. @indigobeachhouse is a beautiful little Caribbean style beach front bungalow made into a restaurant that is super hard to get reservations to, but once you’re in, you’re in for quite a fabulous experience! The manager Vishal explained to me that the restaurant offers 10-13 non-alcoholic mocktails as a lot of people enjoy doing “dry-January, February AND March” and the restaurant wanted to accommodate those looking for fabulous and refreshing options …. I have to say thank you to my twin sister @niamora1 who dined with me and helped film this video…. She’s a little camera shy…. All in all, 10 out of 10! #soberlife #mocktails #beachvibes #sober #vacationideas
