Breaking 🚨 In a clear act of political intimidation and repression, Melbourne University has issued notices of alleged misconduct against at least 19 anti-genocide pro-Palestine student protesters on campus, including a Palestinian student and an anti-Zionist Jewish student, for peacefully protesting against the university’s ongoing complicity in the genocide in Gaza through their weapons manufacturers ties 🩸 This is an unprecedented attack on freedom of speech and right to assembly as the university has used sophisticated tracking and surveillance technologies to identify and accuse students! We call on the community to express their outrage to the Academic Registrar via email and sign the petition in our bio. Melbourne University has issued these notices while not yet honoring their commitment to disclosure of research partnerships with weapons manufacturers! The students will not be deterred or silenced from standing up against the genocide and slaughter of innocent Palestinians in Gaza and across Palestine! From the river to the sea Palestine will be free ✊🏽✊🏽🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Chris Sidoti one of Australia’s finest legal minds An Australian expert on international human rights law. A former Human Rights Commissioner A former commissioner of the Australian Law Reform Commission And now a member of the UN’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory Has been scathing an unequivocal in his assessment of Israel’s army and this genocide… Albo… the ICC is seeking an arrest warrant for this war criminal… Do the right thing and confirm that you will arrest Netanyahu when a warrant is issued for his arrest if he comes to Australia. If we are committed to the independence the ICC then lets make it clear… there is no place on this continent for war criminals.. and we lock Netanyahu up. From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free!
Text- An ABC presenter, @antoinette_lattouf , was sacked for sharing a factual @humanrightswatch post the @abcnews_au had already twice reported on. Then a campaign to have her fired was revealed by @sydneymorningherald . The ‘Lawyers for Israel’ WhatsApp group wanted her off air. ABC management swiftly complied. ABC board members were involved. Yet few journalists and presenters have had the decency, integrity or courage to come out publicly to support Antoinette Lattouf and this heinous bullying. Thank you @withmeaa , @jan__fran, John Lyons & Paul Barry for calling out ABC management and the Zionist lobbies targeting and defaming Lattouf. But what of other prominent journalists? @annabelcrabb? @davidspeers2023 ? @leigh_sales ? @marcfennell? @juliabaird ? @fibrahim_news ? @latrioli ? @lisamillartv ? Richard Glover? @mjrowland68 ? How can you all sit by and watch an Australian-Arab woman peer and colleague be sacked, bullied and targeted- and remain silent? Antoinette Lattouf is facing off institutional power whilst also confronting your choice to remain silent. What is your journalism worth when it lacks the integrity and courage to call out such a blatant miscarriage of justice?
On June 20th, this graffiti was found in the men’s restroom on the ground floor of Mahmoud’s Hall at the University of Melbourne. This despicable act clearly gives praise to Brenton Tarrant, a white, #Australian far-right terrorist who—in the space of 36 minutes shot dead 51 Muslim worshippers inside two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. This is not an isolated incident; graffiti targeting Muslims has repeatedly appeared across Melbourne, underscoring a pervasive threat. The fact that the perpetrator chose Mahmoud’s Hall, a site known for pro-Palestinian protest, was clearly intentional. The frequency and boldness of these acts are a clear indication that hate-filled individuals feel emboldened and unchecked. The University’s persistent inaction has essentially given these bigots a green light to spread their vile messages. This is a damning reflection on the institution’s priorities and its apparent indifference to the safety and dignity of its Muslim students and staff. This is a direct attack not only on Muslims but on the entire community, creating an atmosphere of profound fear and insecurity. University of Melbourne, it is imperative that you take immediate and decisive action to address and eradicate this hatred, and investigate this incident immediately. Enough is enough! @albomp, The community eagerly awaits a condemnation statement or will you brush this one off because we are not ‘your’ type of people? Cr. 📷 and story: @unimelbforpalestine

⚠️ CALL TO ACTION⚠️ Lattouf v ABC: Antoinette Lattouf is before the Federal Court in her case against the ABC in Sydney tomorrow. Please come show your support in front of court: 10.45am, Law Courts Bldng, Queens Square The case comes after she was sacked for sharing a Human Rights Watch post that starvation is being used as a tool of war by Israel. We know also know that at least two Zionist WhatsApp groups, including Lawyers for Israel, had targeted Lattouf and were lobbying the ABC to get rid of her. Join us and demand the ABC use our taxpayer dollars to accurately and independently report on this genocide rather than use this money to bully and punish Lattouf for standing up for free speech, free press and human rights! #nofearnofavour

@teachers4palestine_vic stand in solidarity with anti-genocide, pro-Palestine university student protestors who have received misconduct notices from their education institutions for exercising their right to protest as part of the student-led encampments on university campuses. … @teachers4palestine_vic condemn the education institutions’ attack on students’ right to protest. We also condemn the surveillance and monitoring techniques used by some education institutions to target student protestors, including the use of location tracking and CCTV footage. We see this as a targeted attack on anti-genocide and pro-Palestine students through the use of intimidation and repression tactics to protect institutions’ economic interests, which is indefensible. To our knowledge we know that at least one of the students who has been targeted by their education institution and issued a notice of misconduct is a student studying education. Is this how education institutions choose to treat future educators who stand up for human rights? “Health and safety” allegations are also included in the misconduct letters institutions issued to university students. Like the directives issued by the Department of Education to some teachers and school staff to remove their keffiyehs to “protect the psychological and emotional wellbeing of children”, we see this as another attempt made by the education sector to censor and repress people who take action against genocide through the misuse of the language of ‘safety’ and on the false grounds of wrongdoing. We reject this hypocrisy that weaponises the language of ‘safety’ and claims of misconduct in an attempt to punish individuals who are part of an anti-genocide movement that is calling for an end to the dangerous misconduct of all institutions and governments enabling Israel’s genocide of Palestinian people. @teachers4palestine_vic emphasise that everyone’s right to stand against genocide must be protected from censorship and repression tactics that penalise individuals in an attempt to instigate public fear about protest and actions that hold institutions and governments accountable.

A FREE EVENT FOR ALL EDUCATION UNIONISTS – TEACHERS AND SCHOOL STAFF WON’T BE SILENT: PALESTINE IS AEU BUSINESS All education unionists are welcome to join @teachers4palestine_vic on Wednesday July 10 from 5:30-8:00pm at Victorian Trades Hall Council (Carlton) and online to hear from guest speakers and be part of the facilitated discussion. We will discuss how we can take effective action as education unionists to break the silence on Palestine, and to break government ties with Israel. REGISTRATIONS ARE FREE BUT REQUIRED – PLEASE REGISTER VIA THE LINK IN BIO OR QR CODE. __________ For the last 9 months, AEU Victoria branch members have been organising in our workplaces, in our union sub-branches and regions, and on the streets, to push our state and federal governments to end their support and complicity for Israeli violence in Gaza and the West Bank. Teachers and school staff have been intimidated and threatened in our efforts to promote the human rights of Palestinians. Shockingly, principals have received departmental advice to direct staff to remove Keffiyeh, stickers and badges from their person; to remove references to Palestine from lessons, to remove material referencing Palestine from staff rooms and to discipline students for their expressions of Palestine solidarity. AEU Victoria Branch has an opportunity to adopt clear policy in support of Palestinian rights, and in support of AEU member action for Palestine at the AEU State conference on July 20th. We are a powerful union. We are well placed to challenge the links between our state government, and the Department of Education, and Israel, that normalise and sanitise genocide. What are the next steps we can take to build support for education union action? Panellists include: – Randa Abdel-Fattah – Hamish McPherson – Ohad Kozminsky – Lucy Honan – Justine Makdessi (Chair) We hope to see you there! 🇵🇸
