There will be a special film screening of Where Olive Trees Weep co-produced by @gabormatemd at the Gumbramorra Hall (142 Addison Road, Marrickville).
Proceeds of tickets will go towards Gazan families trying to escape the genocide.

“Where Olive Trees Weep” is a powerful documentary that delves into the lives of many Palestinians who have bearing the brunt of the settler colonial regime in many of the occupied Palestinian villages and towns. The documentary was released in 2024.
The film gives background to the current crisis in Palestine and brings to light the lives of people we met on our 2022 journey in the occupied West Bank. Their universally human stories speak of intergenerational pain, trauma and resilience. An experience that will stir compassion and understanding, and give rise to a pursuit for justice. For without justice, peace remains an empty slogan.
It features the Palestinian researcher Ashira Darwish, Palestinian young activist Ahed Tamimi, Dr Gabor Mate and Israeli journalist Amira Hass
The film screening will be followed by a conversation with two of the most prominent First Nation and Palestinian leaders to explore similarities between the two peoples’ struggle for decolonisation, justice, freedom and liberation.
