If you had told 13-year-old me that one day I’d be taking quick jaunts to London for last minute holidays with my husband and kids, where I could sit in cafés finishing up one book, while coming across another in a major bookstore on Charing Cross, and drop into gallery openings in Mayfair, and stroll the streets of Marylebone, and drink in all the accents and call it research, and eat all the things, all of them, before hopping a high speed train back to my home in Paris — I would have said, “No bloody way.” Alas, here I am. I’m in a best selling book (Matt too) that is now a hit movie starring Anne Hathaway.✨✨✨. Thank you darling cousin, @robinnelee❤️❤️ . Once upon a time, long, long ago. Actually, back in 2015 my cousin, Robin Lee asked me if she could write about me being an artist @thejoannagarelart , in a novel she had been working on. I had just started painting my new contemporary pieces of art – depicting the Southern California lifestyle, in landscapes with dotted skies inspired by the works of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein. I was honored and of course I said, “Yes, please!” Well, that little book, THE IDEA OF YOU has now become a worldwide best seller AND Amazon just made it into a HIT movie starring, Anne Hathaway! [ I wish I played my character, as an artist, in the movie – unfortunately, they cut my character out. Ah, Hollywood.] What a coincidence that I would open my very own art gallery @garelfineart , like the heroine in the book, just as the movie, IDEA OF YOU released.
