Versailles Versailles Versailles what can I say, I get to go to the most extravagant Ball at Versailles you have ever seen. As promised here are new pictures from Paris – yesterday I spent hours on my knees sewing, tacking, hot glueing, and quick stitching my vintage cream ball gown (an old 1950s wedding dress) into a masterpiece fit for Monday nights famed Versailles Ball. The Fete is an annual event that takes place throughout Versailles rooms, but mainly in the Grand Hall of Mirrors and Majestic Gardens. The procession begins at 6 PM with the last evenings spectacular taking place at midnight. The fairytale night beginning with the Grand Versailles courtyard cocktail reception, followed by a most enchanting seated dinner, then it’s ballroom dancing in the hall of mirrors (which I like to call the hall of chandeliers), and concludes with a champagne toast and fireworks display in Versailles incredibly gorgeous gardens overlooking the lake. I’ve been captivated by Versailles ever since I saw Kate Winslet’s amazing performance in the story that followed the woman who created the Marie Antoinette Waterfall Gardens. My Ever Sweet friend Maxine runs events at Versailles and was kind enough to include me. It’s sure to be an unforgettable night and the gown must be Perfection, so I’m creating it myself. I wish you could all come and I’ll be sure to send pictures so you will be included from wherever you are. Please do let me know which ones are your favorite. Happy happy weekend. Love Always Sandra Lee a.k.a. Aunt Sandy-AKA Sanderella for a night. XoSL

Versailles was spectacular, the ball is known as the Fetes Gallant – most Glorious event of the entire year. My invitation, a small group of us were able to visit all the Private rooms and areas in the palace. We were invited into the bedrooms and the parlors, the dining rooms, sitting rooms, game rooms, and even the Majestic theater. We were able to view authentic dresses and even dance in the hall of mirrors which I called the Hall of chandeliers because I love them so much. It was A incredible, words fail to describe. Every Gown and hairpiece better than the next. Even an exact replica of Louis the 14th attire when he made his appearance as the sun king. The entry Courtyard was such fun and the back gardens glorious. Tomorrow, I’m off to the antique market and then tomorrow night the Royal Opera for the final performance of the Ballet—-Giselle! Wowowowow! “THESE ARE THE MOMENTS”. Paris is Perfect – even in the Rain! Sending you much love from the city of love and lights. Sanderella For a Night!

Versailles TA-DA – Pre-Party Prep! What a process…The dress was Magnificent-some 10 hours cutting, Hot gluing, quick stitching and tacking-scissors, thread, glitter, sequence. Then the wig. That was a whole thing. It was two wigs, stacked and pinned, and then embellished with at least 40 different unique ornaments (So Flowers, a 1910 crystal encrusted golden butterfly (fabulous flea market find), Ribbon, pearls, more sequence and final massive amounts of glue…AND Ohh la la! I then made a girlfriend STELLA’s wig! Same process, two wig stacked the feathers bow and lace wrapped. Then my 1950 peasant wedding gown turned into the prettiest most perfect “princess for a night” masterpiece. (Ten hours for the Gown and two for the wig). The necklace is a pearl belt cut down-glued and Velcro’s with the discarded pearl length repurposed for my hair. THE BAG! Another flea market vintage find -$50 at already came beaded over champagne Satin. I covered it in the same lace as my train and Hot glued the lace to the interior of The purse. I stitched the final embellishment to the exterior using the rest of the 1910 antique butterfly hairpiece-the Perfect Purse came to life like magic. Btw all The bows, fringe and tassel was purchased at a drapery/trim wholesaler. It’s about how you use what you have. Creating the life of your dreams is in the Lens you look thru!!! Soooooo Here are the pictures-saving the No make up before’s for an upcoming post. Also, I will be posting pictures from the actual party at Versailles so it will be like you were there too!!! Sending Love From Paris -Sanderella!

ISSUES! I have serious ISSUES! Many of them …..AND THEY ARE CALLED ANTIQUES! I dream about them, I see them, feel them, wonder about their origin and journey and I love them. I love how I feel when I am in their presents-then make me feel happy and calm. A love affair with objects. I don’t know why, but they speak to my soul. There is not a better place to find the most glorious antiques than at the famous French flea markets in Paris. European antiques, here before us, represent people and homes (hopefully happy ones) from a different time and era! Antique furnishings, Fabric, wallpapers, Art, frames, chandeliers, kitchenware and serving ware —-ALL OF IT just make me happy! Wondering these Iconic markets clears my mind, relax me and then INSPIRES ME. Here is a bit of what I found on the streets, in the Alleys and along the walls of the shops. Which precious perfection do u like? Come with me, let’s shop! Love to you from Paris. Sandy Xosl
