I realize that I don’t need an award to want to say thank you for this experience. I loved every second.
Though “thank you” feels so small next to the Universe that I have received from working in the theater. In friends and collaborators and fiancés (I love you so much my Joey) but most of all it is the place I feel the most like myself. I am so grateful…I keep saying I feel like I snuck into the cool kids party and I just dont want anyone to kick me out. Please let me stay.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine wrote a perfect piece about our humanity, and trying to hold on to in the face of grave danger.
We live in a time where our humanity is being digitized and run through algorithms and manipulated and bought and sold back to us.
I am so proud to be a part of a community that makes pieces of art that are one of a kind, one at a time, day after day, in order to tell the stories of the beautiful ache of being alive.
Thank you to the entire Into The Woods family, Jordan, Lear, Rob, and our unbelievable cast. I love you deeply. I am so glad I got to go on this journey at all.
Thank you to my incredible team who always says yes. Do it.
Thank you to my family who lifts me and loves me and also lets me be who I am and say bad words.
But mostly thank you to all the theater makers of the world for creating the most beautifully human place I have ever known.
Thank you for the gift of being in love with making art with all of you.
#thankyou❤️

On the way to the ball. It was a night to celebrate theater and my friends and the place I love to create. I had the most incredible time and thank you to my whole band of merries for bringing it together- my glam team made me feel beautiful inside and out and my friends took care of Louie and of joe and I and I love people so much…and to the one and only @shervinfoto for making us feel iconic with pictures. Love love love love. ❤️
My friend @busyphilipps is fierce and loyal and blunt and truthful and has both sharp edges but also so much softness… like good art does. she feels everything deeply and carries her emotion whole heartedly- and shares it freely. It is bold and brave. She will tell you when she likes something AND when she doesn’t and she will move mountains to love you if you need to be loved. She is hilarious and brilliant and she was born and thank goddess for it. You’re a force dear Busy. I love you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. ❤️
We are live!!!!!!!!!!!!! @waitressmusical @tribeca @tsxentertainment
I spent the weekend meditating at the @omegainstitute and in reflection. It sometimes feels impossible to know how to hold the relentless ache and agony of our human existence. We spoke of mystery and rage and chaos and fierce focus and clarity and the inevitability of suffering and the great, wide, open sky that holds it all. The luminous @sebeneselassie said “As humans we are the great paradox. We are the same AND we are not the same.“
It made me think about how all suffering lives in disconnection- from ourselves and from each other. We can feel misunderstood, ignored, abandoned, forgotten, used, shamed. We forget how to know and be known.
@_jeffwarren_ shared a teaching from #shinzenyoung about using “the subtle sermon of your pores”.
To me, this means we should use how we move through the world to demonstrate how you wish the world to be. I take that to heart. Deeply.
I believe in peace and the pursuit of it. For all beings. I hope you find the courage to use the subtle sermon of your pores to lift humanity up.
Thank you to @danharris and @tenpercenthappier for a sacred remembering of the peace inside chaos. Just like the Buddha hiding in this picture.
May all beings be safe. May all beings be happy. May all beings be healthy. May all beings live with ease. 🩵
Sometimes your absence is a fog horn. I miss you like crazy and sometimes I can’t even stand to think about it because it doesn’t compute. I love who you loved and we love each other in your honor. Happy Birthday dear sweet Chad. Forever and ever.
I got invited to play a private show in Sicily and accepted months ago…had no idea the timing would be as insane as this or that Italy would once again remind me of staggering beauty when I needed it the most! Thank you for the cup filled, with the most delicious and precious gifts of all…joy, love, and awe. My best buds @joetipps and @jenniferbareilles along for the wander…and it was one for the books. ❤️🇮🇹🍾💕

In 2007, I had the privilege of playing one of my first career shows at Rockwood Music Hall on the Lower East Side. This venue has always been a symbol of the determination and resilience of New York’s aspiring musicians. Today, I am reaching out to each and every one of you, because it is at risk of closing down.
I’m excited to share the #PreserveRockwood benefit concert series, starting on June 30th. It will be an incredible opportunity for all of us to come together and support this iconic independent venue and see some of our favorite artists including myself (June 30) Chris Thile and Michael Daves (July 1), Amy Helm (July 6), Isabel Hagen (July 10), Ingrid Michaelson (July 20), Elle King (July 31), The Lone Bellow (August 10), and more! 100% of the proceeds will go to towards Rockwood’s preservation!
Rockwood Music Hall has provided a launching pad for countless successful musicians – now it’s our turn to give back. Together, let’s preserve the future of music and protect this invaluable space for generations to come.
