When was the last time you put your feet on the earth? Or rolled around in the mud? Or jumped in a lake? I managed to fall in the mud myself today on the edge of a river and cleaned myself off in the grass and remembered how good it used to feel as a kid to just get dirty and not care and run barefoot in the grass…. I have been feeling heavy with all that is happening in the world these days – and to this earth in particular. And while just earthing in the grass fails to solve the magnitude of issues that we must collectively address, seeing clover growing lifted my spirits. Native landscaping is one simple way to help bring the planet back into balance, feeding the bees who can’t survive on the cloverless grass sold to the American dream of the 1950s is one little little step we can take towards living in harmony with nature as she intended. And lots of one-little-steps make a difference.
Mostly this is just a thank you to the earth for all she offers. And a prayer for greater reciprocity. Every day. Cause every day is Earth Day.
