In a new episode of “LA Stories,” celebrated actor @sharonstone opens up to host @gisellefernanfez about her acting career and comeback after suffering hardship.
It was during the ‘90s when her acting career took off. Starring in huge hits such as “Total Recall,” “Basic Instinct” and “Casino,” Stone became Hollywood’s “It Girl” and won an Emmy and Golden Globe — and was even nominated for an Oscar.
In 2001, everything turned upside down for the actor. She suffered a brain hemorrhage, which led to a stroke. More recently, however, Stone found comfort in a new art form: painting.
“I am going to get up and work,” she said. “If it’s not for Hollywood, it’s going to be for somebody else because I’m a worker. I come from blue-collar blood, baby.”

@sharonstone is going back to San Francisco, a place where her life fell apart. She suffered from a massive stroke and lost custody of her child there in the early 2000s.
In a wide-ranging interview, she says her return is an artistic pursuit, and a coming to one with her pain. Her new show, “My Eternal Failure,” opens at Gallery 181 on April 10.
“I’m retracing all the things that happened there and trying to paint about my story,” says Stone, who’s wearing a navy long-sleeve T-shirt with silk floral pajama bottoms during a Zoom call from a chilly Los Angeles.
One of the pieces in the show, “The Book of My Eternal Disaster,” is a 6 X 10 foot canvas that has taken Stone two years to paint. It depicts the bright sky with a dark sea that looks as if it’s crying.
Her San Francisco show, she says, is about stepping into vulnerability and shedding the stigmas of perception.
