Suzanne Ciani (@sevwave) is a modular synthesis titan. Since the late ‘60s, the US composer has nurtured a creative affair with a rare analogue instrument called the Buchla. She fell in love with its timbre, intuitive interface and unique ability to move sound around speakers. “You’re interacting with something that has intelligence,” she said. “The Buchla will give back to you.” In our latest Art of Production feature, Ciani spoke with @chloe.lula from her home in California about her decades-long relationship with the Buchla, her affinity with the ocean and what makes a sound wave feminine.
