ZZ Ward Instagram – Fire, fire, fire, damn my heart is hurting today because we lost one of my biggest inspirations the beast Tina Turner!!!! What a force!!! So strong and resilient, on the stage and off. Tina was an artist who embodied the power you heard in her voice, she had it all and then some. Her road was not an easy one, she worked incredibly hard and never gave up on her music. Speaking out about domestic violence and finding a better life for herself didn’t have to be the path she chose but thank God she had the courage to do so. When I heard Tina sing the blues for the first time I was struck by lightening, by a voice that felt like it was right on the edge of falling apart, with this beautiful rasp and unmatched sincerity. She hit me right in my soul and influenced so much of my self-expression from that moment on. Some people only know Tina for her big pop records but those are just a portion of her discography.
