Amber Marshall Instagram - 🌄 Have you seen my newest Rambling Rides video?! My husband, Shawn rides along and chats a little about the calendar we have been doing together for over a decade. (He’s not one for being in front of the camera, so I was proud of him for doing this!) 🎥 🛻

🌟I’ve included the YouTube link in my profile.

❤️ The first photo of us was taken almost 14 years ago when Shawn was taking a few of the 2011 calendar photos in our hometown of London, Ontario. Did you know we were both born in the same hospital? (Shawn was there a year earlier than me though - which is typical because he shows up early for everything)😌

💌 And for those who “missed” my January newsletter - you actually didn’t miss anything. After many of you that had signed up were not receiving the letters we decided to review some new platforms - So stay tuned on that, but for now you can find all the Rambling Rides videos on my YouTube Channel. ☺️

‼️ General Note: I do NOT charge anything for a “fan club.” I’ve had many fans reach out and say that they’ve been contacted by me or “my team” to pay for a membership. Please note this is a SCAM! It does NOT cost anything nor do I charge money to receive any of my letters or promotions. The unfortunate part is there are far too many of these going on and they’re too hard to track to be able to report. Please be cautious and know that if someone is asking for money over the Internet, best to just stay away. ⚠️

Amber Marshall Instagram - 🐴 Since my latest newsletter focussed on Cash the Quarter Horse and his mama Shay, I thought it was only fitting to add this special horse to my #MarshallSundayStory this week.

Let’s go back to April 18, 2009 when a sweet little buckskin was born. I met him shortly after when his mom came to board at my home. Falling right in love I very quickly asked if this little colt was for sale. At the end of that summer when the boarded horses went home, Cash got to stay.

This handsome guy and I had many adventures together over the next several years. He has always been an extra cuddly horse and excels with human attention. Most of the horses I’ve had are independent and flourish in the herd, even if I don’t have the time to spend with them regularly. Cash was different, he needed a human.

My schedule filming Heartland is quite demanding, and I would find myself driving in late at night seeing Cash standing with his head hung over the fence, apart from the herd, watching me head to the house. I would try to go out to give him a cuddle as often as I could, but I knew he deserved someone who could devote more time to him.

It was during one of these late night drives home from work that my friend Shay reached out, needing a listening ear. Her horse Montana was going in for surgery and wouldn’t be rideable for quite some time. She was pretty upset by the news. I’m a believer that things happen for a reason and situations present themselves at the right time. I knew in my gut this was the right place for Cash.

At the time Shay lived in Ontario, so after she excitedly agreed, I loaded Cash up, and he made the journey east. These two bonded over the next many years, and had some great adventures themselves, but the most memorable of all, was when they packed up and both travelled west to answer a calling in Shays heart. Now I get to see the two of them regularly and continue our adventures together.

You can hear more of their story on my newest addition of Rambling Rides on my YouTube channel.

Amber Marshall Instagram - Many of you have been asking how my old alpaca Betty is doing. I knew she was on her last legs this past year and is it with a heavy heart I report she has finally made her way across the rainbow bridge.

Betty was with us many years, and took great care of all the calves each spring. She would lay with them in the pasture, often seen grooming them, and keeping all safe from predators.

I remember back to one harsh snowstorm when I went out in our big field searching for a younger calf that was missing. I found Betty laying out in the far corner of the 100 acre pasture, and underneath her hid the newborn calf, just his nose poking out from her snow covered body. She really was one of a kind and her presence will be greatly missed on the farm.

Amber Marshall Instagram - I recently passed the 1 Million followers mark on Instagram and it got me thinking about the content I’ve posted over the past 11 years…
I have never been big on “selfies,” or photos of what I’m up to, but I do love sharing my farm, and the animal friends that adopt this space with us.

The very first post I made on this account back in December 2012 was of our cat “Turner Valley” curled up on my bed. 📸 I had Shawn take this photo of me with her today to give an honourable mention to this sweet old kitty.
“Turner Valley” was a stray I brought home in June of 2010. Heartland was filming in the town of Turner Valley and there was a litter of kittens born in an old storage shed in town. After confirming with the owners of the property that the cats were in fact strays… I set out on a mission that day to give one a good home. *For anyone out there who’s tried to catch eight-week-old untouched, stray kittens, it can be quite the challenge!! They are feisty little things and put up a good fight. After obtaining some thick leather gloves from our costume department I set out with a towel and was able to grab this little black and white hissing ball of fluff. I named her after the town she was born in, and took her home to begin gaining her trust.
Turner has never been a cuddly cat, and prefers the company of dogs to humans or other cats, but for 14 years she has had a warm bed to sleep in and a full tummy. Her best friend was our old shepherd, Remi (yes from Heartland) who we brought home the same summer. They bonded instantly and Turner would always be the first to run to Remi and greet her, rubbing all over her and purring loudly. As soon as Remi found a good place to take a nap, Turner was there cuddled beside her. (Story too long for this post and continued in comments)

Thanks for reading this #MarshallSundayStory! Any requests for next weeks Animal Story? 😊

Amber Marshall Instagram - As we wrap up Heartland’s Season 18 for the year, I think back to the incredible time we have all had together. I would say this year especially, was extra fun.

The group pictured here have all been a part of Heartland for 18 years! (There are others too, but just happened we were all standing together) I love and admire you all so much.

The friendships we’ve made and the memories we’ve shared make this so much more than a job. I hope you enjoy this new season airing in Canada in a month. I am already ready to dive in to more stories, so let’s all throw our positive vibes out for a spring renewal! ❤️🐴

Amber Marshall Instagram - We had such a great time in Toronto this past weekend at @theRoyalFair !

Thank you to everyone who was a part of it. It always feels good to be back in the province that raised me.

It has been a busy few weeks, but I’m headed back home to Alberta today, and looking forward to some R&R on the ranch with Shawn and our critters. 😊

Amber Marshall Instagram - #MarshallSundayStory: Last week I told you the story of how my cat Turner came to live with me. This week, (after many requests) we will learn more about #BettyTheAlpaca who lived with us for a decade before she crossed the rainbow bridge.

It was the summer of 2013 and I was at a ranch with my friend @KatieConnolley looking at some horses that were for sale. There was a lone alpaca there, so asked what her story was. The owner said he didn’t know how old she was, or much about her, as she had been left behind from a previous herd. He then said, “If you want her she’s yours.”

I had no experience with llamas or alpacas but something about her just made me want to bring her home. She was not tame, and we had to wrangle her into a small pen, then rope and tackle her. I put an old t-shirt over her face to keep her calm, then we lifted her into the backseat of my truck - we hadn’t brought a trailer, so I sat holding her while my friend Katie drove us home (see last photo that was taken when we arrived home).

I decided to turn her out with my cows so she wasn’t alone, and instantly she loped over to the young calves and started grooming them. She became Nanny Betty from then on. She took her job so seriously she would never let the calves out of her sight. My moma cows began trusting Betty, and would leave their calves with her for hours while they went out further to graze.
Over the years Betty really warmed up to me. She even learned how to be haltered and walk nicely while being led. I miss Betty, as do my cows, and I’m not sure I will ever find another alpaca like her. ❤️

🦙 Story too long for this post, I have continued in the comments.

Amber Marshall Instagram - This week I decided to go with my main man of the chicken coop for my #MarshallSundayStory please put your hands together for, Phoenix the rooster.

Phoenix is not just any ordinary rooster. Not only has he travelled across the country to star in a commercial, but he also has spent far more time living inside our home than your average farmyard bird. Phoenix was one of many chicks that I purchased in the spring of 2019. Being smaller in size, he was instantly targeted by the flock and picked on. One day, I went out to find him badly beaten by the other members of the coop. I scooped him up and decided that he needed to come spend some time in the house recovering. He became so comfortable in the house and friendly with us, he stayed far past his welcome. Over the next couple years Shawn and I moved and started building at our new property. We didn’t have a barn or a chicken coop so again, Phoenix (who at the time was the only bird we had) made himself at home, living in our little cabin. He would wander around the yard during the day, and in the nice summer months would sleep on our front porch.

When winter came I set up an area for him in the cabin… but for those who have been around roosters, know that their early morning crowing can be deafening. We soon put a stop to this as our cabin is only one room and it echoed quite loudly each morning.

By this time our barn was nearly finished anyway so I moved him to his own spot out there and purchased 4 Americana (a breed of laying hen) chicks to keep him company.

Phoenix has been around for five years now and is definitely the king of his castle now. His 4 ladies are still doing well and we have since built them a coop of their own. This rooster has been more than just a bird to us and I thank him for being such a special member of our family.

Amber Marshall Instagram - Two months ago, my friend Katie and I went on an adventure together. Little did we know at the time how much this trip would change our lives. We headed to Northern B.C. where we met up with an enthusiastic and incredibly selfless group of women from the Canadian Animal Assistance Team. Over the next 3 days, Katie and I and this power-team spayed over 100 dogs and cats in a remote area where overpopulation of homeless animals was starting to take a toll.

That’s when we met two incredible furry sisters, who at 6 months of age had already lived quite the life. These stray pups were so gentle and kind in nature, but also fearful and shy. Katie and I knew we couldn’t leave them behind to a future life on the street. By the end of our journey these lucky pups had a new place to call home. Autumn stayed with me, and Desi went with the kindest human I have ever known.

Katie started to notice something was different about Desi and began taking her to a specialist to find out what exactly was going on. She would call me with Desi news often, sometimes good, and sometimes not. It was soon found out that Desi had suffered a trauma early in her life (possibly from being hit by a car) that had caused severe organ damage. All the while Katie and I would talk about these two little angels that fell into our life exactly when we needed them most. Sadly, sweet Desi decided her time here was short and sweet, and peacefully slipped away one night in her sleep. In the 2 short months they had together this little stray found more love than most dogs would get in a full lifetime. I’m sending the biggest hugs to Katie and her family, who went above and beyond in helping this incredible soul.

We will all miss you Desi, but your life was so much larger than most, and we will not let your message be forgotten. ❤️

If you wish to donate to the life of Desi and help this from happening to other homeless pets, please consider donating to @caat_canada or your local animal shelter.

I’m sending the biggest hugs to Katie and her family, who went above and beyond in helping this incredible soul.

We will all miss you Desi, but your life was so much larger than most, and we will not let your message be forgotten. ❤️

Amber Marshall Instagram - I’m thankful for so many things. 🍁

This past weekend was Thanksgiving for us in Canada and I was very happy to have my dad and step-mom join us. I don’t get to see them very often, but when I do, we always make the most of it.

I’m thankful for the time I have with those I hold close to my heart, and for beautiful autumn rides in the place I call home. I’m thankful for a good meal, a place to hang my hat and an incredible man to share that space with, and maybe a chai lattes in front of a warm fire with dogs asleep at our feet.

My heart is with anyone who is affected by war and the horrific acts around the world. Keep those who mean the most to you close, and love them with all your heart. In a world where there is so much fear, misunderstanding and hate, choose kindness. ❤️

Amber Marshall Instagram - The snow is fluffy on the ground outside, fireplace is toasty and the cabin is cozy, and from our family to yours we wish you a very Merry Christmas! 🎄
Amber Marshall Instagram - Polocross… my new favourite horse sport.

We had SO MUCH fun learning all about Polocross today. They first put Shawn and I on the same team since they didn’t want to cause a stir with us playing against each other, but let me tell you… it was a blast playing defensive against him. Our competitive nature came out, but in the best way!! I haven’t seen Shawn smile that big in a while! He picked up on the game so fast!

Shawn got to ride my little Herbie for the game, since that horse is a star in the position he was playing. I switched to the most wonderful mare Lily, whose speed and determination was perfect in the defensive spot.

Anyone know a good polocross teacher near Calgary? I think we are hooked. 😉

Amber Marshall - 83.8K Likes - 🌄 Have you seen my newest Rambling Rides video?!

Amber Marshall - 69.7K Likes - 🐴 Since my latest newsletter focussed on Cash the Quarter Horse and his mama Shay, I thought it was only fitting to add this special horse to my #MarshallSundayStory this week.

🐴 📸 To see more Cash photos on Instagram click #AmberHorseCash And be sure to check out Shay’s account: @CashTheQuarterHorse

Amber Marshall - 50.3K Likes - Many of you have been asking how my old alpaca Betty is doing.

Amber Marshall - 43.9K Likes - I recently passed the 1 Million followers mark on Instagram and it got me thinking about the content I’ve posted over the past 11 years…
I have never been big on “selfies,” or photos of what I’m up to, but I do love sharing my farm, and the animal friends that adopt this space with us.

As soon as Remi found a good place to take a nap, Turner was there cuddled beside her. (Story too long for this post and continued in comments) Thanks for reading this #MarshallSundayStory!

Amber Marshall - 41.2K Likes - As we wrap up Heartland’s Season 18 for the year, I think back to the incredible time we have all had together.

Amber Marshall - 34.2K Likes - We had such a great time in Toronto this past weekend at @theRoyalFair !

Thank you to everyone who was a part of it. It always feels good to be back in the province that raised me.

It has been a busy few weeks, but I’m headed back home to Alberta today, and looking forward to some R&R on the ranch with Shawn and our critters. 😊

Amber Marshall - 33.8K Likes - #MarshallSundayStory: Last week I told you the story of how my cat Turner came to live with me.

I miss Betty, as do my cows, and I’m not sure I will ever find another alpaca like her. ❤️ 🦙 Story too long for this post, I have continued in the comments. Amber Marshall - 33.8K Likes - #MarshallSundayStory: Last week I told you the story of how my cat Turner came to live with me.

Amber Marshall - 32.5K Likes - This week I decided to go with my main man of the chicken coop for my #MarshallSundayStory please put your hands together for, Phoenix the rooster.

#AmbersRoosterPhoenix To view more Animal Stories click #MarshallSundayStory

Amber Marshall - 28.6K Likes - Two months ago, my friend Katie and I went on an adventure together.

Amber Marshall - 27.4K Likes - I’m thankful for so many things.

Amber Marshall - 23.9K Likes - Polocross… my new favourite horse sport.
