Andrea Boehlke Instagram - Hi! LIFE UPDATE! It’s my last week working for People Magazine! After 7 years at the job I made the very difficult decision to end my time there. It’s been the most transformative, coolest job ever and I’m so freaking grateful. Truly the end of an era! So why the change? To put it simply- I’m taking a break from full-time work to focus on my mental health. I’ve had a rough year. My anxiety and brain fog were out of control. Spotty vision, anxiety attacks and and at my worst, it was extremely dark. I would say things like “I can’t live like this” because of how unbearable the anxiety was. Really scary stuff:( As I search for answers, I know a couple things to be true: I have absolutely overworked myself and have given myself chronic stress. I recently did some hormone testing and my doctor said my body IS in a state of chronic stress. Which is comforting knowing this is temporary and fixable?? This summer I barely had a day off of work, since I was juggling several jobs. When I do finally get a rest, my brain is stressing about work or trying to get more work 😵‍💫 Hence, the decision to take some things off my plate and re-wire my brain to learn how to RELAX. Secondly, I’ve had mental health issues bubbling up for years, unaddressed. I finally came to terms with my addiction to alcohol and can proudly say an INCREDIBLE thing that came from this year is that I no longer abuse alcohol. I never thought I would see the day where I didn’t crave booze at the end of the day. It took a lot of effort, and sometimes I feel like I’m “no longer cool or fun” when I set boundaries, but I’m insanely proud!!! So I’m finally taking my mental well-being seriously. I’m going to take a few months off to rest, travel and form healthier habits! I’ve been doing daily meditation, journaling, yoga, I’m starting EMDR therapy for trauma, and a bunch of other things which are helping! I’m already feeling better but I know this is a journey. Soooo anywhoo that’s a ramble but I’m so hopeful and excited about the future - something I couldn’t have said a few months ago. Lots of love to everyone. I know it can get tough but we have to keep fighting. Always know I’m in your corner 💕

Oh and I can do pull-ups now! Andrea Boehlke Instagram - Spring in Milwaukee 🌊🤍 I love this set of pics by @tommymoorestudio and it got me thinking about my new life here. I have to be honest, I really didn’t love Milwaukee at first. It was a hard transition going from nyc to wisconsin after a whole decade. I thought maybe I would be happier if I moved back to nyc, but as it turns out, I was just deeply unhappy in general and a location wasn’t going to fix anything. I do believe changing your surroundings CAN help, but if you’re truly miserable inside, you’re going to be miserable anywhere you go unless you fix that 😅 Once I got my mental health in check (yayyy! more on that later) everything started to brighten, including this charming city. I’m obsessed with the cute coffee shops where I spent my bad days, and where I now spend my good days. I am now a VERY dedicated Milwaukee sports fan - Bucks, Brewers, Admirals?! Let’s goooo. I’m making new friends and meeting so many cool people. I love the trails, lakefront, antique shops and volleyball leagues. I’m really happy I chose to make Milwaukee my home for now. btw this is not a sponsored ad for the city of Milwaukee 😂 I’m just finally feeling so free and happy and love it here and think @tommymoorestudio captured that so well 💫

Andrea Boehlke - 7.6K Likes - Hi! LIFE UPDATE! It’s my last week working for People Magazine! After 7 years at the job I made the very difficult decision to end my time there. It’s been the most transformative, coolest job ever and I’m so freaking grateful. Truly the end of an era! So why the change? To put it simply- I’m taking a break from full-time work to focus on my mental health. I’ve had a rough year. My anxiety and brain fog were out of control. Spotty vision, anxiety attacks and and at my worst, it was extremely dark. I would say things like “I can’t live like this” because of how unbearable the anxiety was. Really scary stuff:( As I search for answers, I know a couple things to be true: I have absolutely overworked myself and have given myself chronic stress. I recently did some hormone testing and my doctor said my body IS in a state of chronic stress. Which is comforting knowing this is temporary and fixable?? This summer I barely had a day off of work, since I was juggling several jobs. When I do finally get a rest, my brain is stressing about work or trying to get more work 😵‍💫 Hence, the decision to take some things off my plate and re-wire my brain to learn how to RELAX. Secondly, I’ve had mental health issues bubbling up for years, unaddressed. I finally came to terms with my addiction to alcohol and can proudly say an INCREDIBLE thing that came from this year is that I no longer abuse alcohol. I never thought I would see the day where I didn’t crave booze at the end of the day. It took a lot of effort, and sometimes I feel like I’m “no longer cool or fun” when I set boundaries, but I’m insanely proud!!! So I’m finally taking my mental well-being seriously. I’m going to take a few months off to rest, travel and form healthier habits! I’ve been doing daily meditation, journaling, yoga, I’m starting EMDR therapy for trauma, and a bunch of other things which are helping! I’m already feeling better but I know this is a journey. Soooo anywhoo that’s a ramble but I’m so hopeful and excited about the future - something I couldn’t have said a few months ago. Lots of love to everyone. I know it can get tough but we have to keep fighting. Always know I’m in your corner 💕

Honestly, 34 might have been my best year yet. I feel like I finally found my groove with my mental health. I also had a lot of fun!!! I have been checking some things off the ole bucket list: at 34 I finally did stand up comedy for the first time (I rate it a 6/10, it was so scary but worth it) I started volunteering for NAMI and now teach about mental health in classrooms (been wanting to do this forever), I took some road trips, did outdoor rock climbing, camped in the Rocky Mountains, crossed off some national parks. Oh and I can do pull-ups now! For 35 I finally want to run a half marathon, mayyyybe do stand up again, do a handstand, and freeze my eggs 😅🤪 I haven’t always been able to say it, but I’m so happy to be here, and I want to thank everyone who has been here for me throughout the years. I love you all! 💕
