I wanted to look at it, to hold it in my hands as though somehow that might alleviate the excruciating sadness I know we all feel. It didn’t work. I remain mired in sadness. My heart breaks too for Vanessa and their girls-if I’m feeling this terrible I can’t even fathom what they must be going through. Nor the families of those who perished alongside Kobe and Gianna - those poor people who were undoubtedly so excited to ride with him. I’m so sorry for their loss and all they must be feeling. The clips (are from Kobe’s last game, to which I was so fortunate to take my daughter. These last days we’ve commiserated and shared clips and stories; our shared love for Kobe remains a wonderful bond between us, even in death. It was an extraordinary night, watching this man say goodbye as only he could. The game itself was one last miracle for those of us who had loved Kobe for so long, through thick and thin, defending him against the haters, awed by his work ethic and accomplishment, astonished by the miracles he bestowed on a seemingly nightly basis, grateful to celebrate our vindication with each impossible milestone he crossed. We’d been down 14 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter - Kobe had only 37 at that point and then he just turned it up even more - reaching deep down to give us one last glimpse at his heroics. We rallied once again behind his unshakeable confidence, inspired and thrilled as the entire arena held its collective breath with every shot leaving his hands, cheering his makes and groaning at the misses, eyeing his total and high-fiving one another as we reveled one last time in the ferocity of his will and his relentless determination to win. When he hit 50 (the first clip) we just laughed and screamed and cheered, so grateful to witness Kobe’s greatness one last time as he came once again to the rescue, as we’d seen him do so many times before. Caption : 💔 Beautiful words @empirepix • Two days later and it’s not any easier. I’ve never actually worn this jersey-I keep it stored safely away, but today I took it out. I wanted to look at it, to hold it in my hands as though somehow that might alleviate the excruciating sadness I know we all feel. It didn’t work. I remain mired in sadness. My heart breaks too for Vanessa and their girls-if I’m feeling this terrible I can’t even fathom what they must be going through. Nor the families of those who perished alongside Kobe and Gianna – those poor people who were undoubtedly so excited to ride with him. I’m so sorry for their loss and all they must be feeling. The clips (are from Kobe’s last game, to which I was so fortunate to take my daughter. These last days we’ve commiserated and shared clips and stories; our shared love for Kobe remains a wonderful bond between us, even in death. It was an extraordinary night, watching this man say goodbye as only he could. The game itself was one last miracle for those of us who had loved Kobe for so long, through thick and thin, defending him against the haters, awed by his work ethic and accomplishment, astonished by the miracles he bestowed on a seemingly nightly basis, grateful to celebrate our vindication with each impossible milestone he crossed. We’d been down 14 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter – Kobe had only 37 at that point and then he just turned it up even more – reaching deep down to give us one last glimpse at his heroics. We rallied once again behind his unshakeable confidence, inspired and thrilled as the entire arena held its collective breath with every shot leaving his hands, cheering his makes and groaning at the misses, eyeing his total and high-fiving one another as we reveled one last time in the ferocity of his will and his relentless determination to win. When he hit 50 (the first clip) we just laughed and screamed and cheered, so grateful to witness Kobe’s greatness one last time as he came once again to the rescue, as we’d seen him do so many times before. And then another 3 to take the lead and suddenly 60 was within reach! (Continued)
