AnnaLynne McCord Instagram - I’ve never said yes to a project faster than I did to @conditionofreturn - that was because I didn’t want to do this film.
There have been two days in my entire 22 year long career that I didn’t want to show up for work, one of those days was on this film.

I am a gun owner, I’ve played a lot of characters who wield every version of metal weaponry, but I can’t depict the level of dread I felt portraying what my character does in this film. AND IT’S NOT REAL. I’M ACTING. I kept telling myself that, but it didn’t make it feel any different.

I said “yes” to this film BECAUSE I didn’t want this film to exist. I didn’t want it to be relevant.

I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America 🇺🇸. I support it. I know precisely why our forefathers fought so hard to provide us with every amendment as written. I hope we choose to honor them when we hold the machinery our world is capable of building today.

This world is confusing and scary. It’s polarized and instead of being able to hold two thoughts in mind, there is a need to paint opposers as evil. I don’t see things that way. Perhaps, because I’ve seen too much.

My mental health journey is ultimately why this film is so important to me. I hope we can stop saying “no guns” “more guns”. I hope we can use our brilliant minds to adapt to a solution-based approach regarding guns and all of the other divisive topics that need evolution over revolution.

I am only one. I know that. But one quote has been and will always remain resonate for me: “If not me, who? If not now, when?”

Now, don’t get me wrong, growing up in American poverty, I lived many moments counting nickels and dimes. Quarters were exciting, and dollars were a blessing from above. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a real thing. I am grateful that during those early-life moments, I never lost sight of the dream no one believed I could see to fruition. Because now I know the power of my belief.

I was beside myself, “What does this mean? Oh my god. He’s holding my hand!” It meant it wasn’t just me. It meant you felt it to. It meant you would be mine for the next four years, and that I would love you for the rest of my life. Yours is gone too soon, but I feel you when the tears won’t stop. I know you’re resting now.
