Caption : Only one month to go now 👊DL from blocks from today – stopped at 135kg cause it just felt like enough for today. Looking big, feeling just what it looks like…. However it’s not about what the scale says, I’m actually gaining less weight than I did the first time around and most likely that’s also due to loosing a little bit more muscle. Throughout I have had to adjust my training as well as my nutrition but having the knowledge from last time and @rpstrength by my side knowing I’m fueling enough to grow and maintain strength is the most important. #Knowledgeispower More loose in my diet than in season for sure!! But most meals are more or less the same and keeping them bigger in the morning and lunch making sure I’m not crashing at any point during the day 🤝 #grateful #strong #mom #rpathlete #crossfit @rpstrength

In Iceland you don’t get to just choose you only get the option if you have had a very rough first birth or complications come up. The ones closest to me wanted me to have a C section, I know out of love and scared of how it was last time around. However I felt like it was my call and I was in some ways afraid of another regular birth as well but I wasn’t ready to rule it out. I wanted to go through with it and have a good experience and a good normal birth I believe will be the best for everyone. Around Christmas it came to me that it wasn’t just about me though. It was about what was right for my family. I didn’t feel like I could take the risk for our boy and also for our 3 year old girl, to come home and be as destroyed as I was from birth as last time around, I felt like that was something I just could not risk. For me it was the right call, definitely not pain free 😅 but loss of blood significantly less and I’m fully there for my newborn and my daughter ❤️ I couldn’t be more grateful for my family. When it comes to making decisions like this, everyone’s situation might be different. I’m just sharing my process here. #grateful #mom #happy #enjoylife #dottir

Caption : Reality for me 2 weeks postpartum, I am moving, just started yesterday, it feels AMAZING!! Just some biking that feels ok and good to me 💦 What was hard for me last time “body vise” was how long my stomach was large. We all heal at a different pace, I never expected a postpartum body to look like this, not saying this is not common but I had NO idea because what I had seen was not this but maybe it’s because we don’t share it? This time around it’s the same, the difference is I was expecting it which means it’s easier to deal with. Doesn’t mean it’s Easy but I know it’s temporary, I take a long time to heal up and that is a part of it. Caption : Body image is a b**ch…. So many feelings, thoughts and doubts – regardless of whether you are a competitive athlete or not. I KNOW, and I would tell others, you are who you are and your body is incredible for what it does and gives you, regardless of what it looks like!! However it can be hard every once in a while to do what you preach, but i will take that challenge and do my best to live by it. The beginning of pregnancy where you start showing but you are still “hiding it” till it’s safe to announce, is HARD. Once you announce, you continue to grow, you still feel “soft” and somewhat out of shape, but the feeling of carrying life is incredible ❤️ women show at different times, all of us are different and each pregnancy might be different as well. This time I started showing a lot earlier and growing a lot faster. I wore loose shirts but it also doesn’t feel like ME. It wasn’t until my belly was a little bigger and the loose shirts weren’t hiding anything anyways I decided to just not care. Wear what I am comfortable in and do ME. It’s not always easy but maaan it feels a lot better to be free 17 weeks and this is what my power belly looks like! Grateful 🫶 and also thankful for my health and being able to continue to train and lift weights 🏋️♀️

Caption : Quick poll: Ladies, do you consider how you eat and fuel during your cycle? If you don’t and energy levels and performance remains at the same high level throughout, then GREAT. I couldn’t be happier for you! However, for the majority this is not the case and too little guidance is available to help work WITH your physiology instead of AGAINST it. The calorie count should still be consistent with your goals (lose weight, maintain, gain weight) but the timing and quantities, especially for athletic performance MATTERS. @rpstrength During your high hormone phase (luteal phase, hormones peak 5 days before period) your ability to access glycogen is decreased due to high levels of estrogen and more of your energy will be pulled from fat stores – however this is not great for higher intensity exercise where you need carbohydrates to fuel the anaerobic metabolism. Long story short: luteal phase you’ll need to supplement with carbohydrates to maintain blood sugar levels to support high intensity exercise – so you’ll most likely need to move your macros around a little to improve performance and overall wellbeing. #femaleperformance #knowledgeispower #WomenAreNotSmallMen

Caption : The whole “eating for two” is not technically correct, but your hormones are for sure making your stomach feel like you need to! Cravings are REAL, and so is the struggle to keep out of the pantry. Sometimes I’m successful – other times not so much. However, I always try to tell myself that the quick fix is NOT the right solution. The fluctuations of estrogen and progesterone plays a trick on you and can drastically change the levels of and sensitivity to grehlin and leptin, two hormones closely controlling the feeling of hunger. Exercise is one of the best way to combat grehlin and gain control of your eating. Fiber as well as plenty of fluids is another great tool to keep yourself out of the pantry and on track @rpstrength This is also the case if you’re on your own (not with an extra person inside of you 😊)

Caption : The thing about snatching…. Warming up and at lighter loads I keep the focus on getting in quality reps, proper bar path, speed and consistent foot work. At heavier loads I keep 1, maybe 2 things still in there then at the max load I need to just let go…. Don’t think about what’s on the bar, preferably dance a little and then just hit that grooooove 🤌 We teach our bodies what to do when the real fight comes.
