Balancing one of the biggest accomplishments of my career with one of the most necessary movements in our industry is interesting for sure but what I’ve come to learn is that multiple things can be true at once and so can a plethora of feelings about those things and it’s our job to make room to tend to all those things within ourselves .

Dominique Fishback Instagram - I think for a while I forgot how to smile.

Repression is such a dimmer of the divine light we all have inside of us and it is so stealthy.

I somehow let experiences and pain put a filter on me, of which I could not see.
That’s ok. We live to learn 🫶🏽

One day in June last summer, I randomly walked into a wholistic shop in Brooklyn.

I said something to my friend and it was in there that the owner, a black woman, told me that “I had resisted too long.”
I wanted to catch an attitude cause nobody asked her 😂 but I couldn’t because I knew she was right and I did in fact walk in that shop hopeful for insight. 🧘🏾‍♀️

She said we have “3 choices in life.. Ignore. Resist or follow… “ could it be that all these years I confused resisting and following …

I thought that by verbalizing I didn’t agree with something that was resistance but in fact was I still just following?

Now I know, it was that I was resisting the wrong thing. I was resisting my own heart.

Why do we do such hurtful things like that?

This January I declared that I just wanted to wake up everyday and be happy not because of what’s happening in my career or my love life but just of my own volition.

So happy to see I’m smiling again and this time it’s a smile of my own making and still I appreciate you guys for holding space for it. 🥹☺️🌀🪷🦋✨

Dominique Fishback Instagram - I have 9 original songs to my name now. And July 17th was the one year anniversary of my first song ever. 🥹Today I get back in the studio after over a month away.

But in that month away, some things came into perspective. Direction is becoming clear again. God never forgot….

A line that I developed based off of one of the most simple yet profound things someone ever said to me….

Spent the last 3 years unpacking every layer and piece of what that concept could mean fully.

I deeply appreciate the journalists, writers, editors and the outlets who have pushed beautiful clips of me being myself and being love.

Dominique Fishback Instagram - Im extremely overwhelmed with having to choose 10 pics or videos for a 2023 slide … so I tried to choose all my favorite moments with the idea that even if someone isn’t pictured…. They were present and their presence was the reason I cherish the moment so much.
In no particular order.
1. Transformers premiere because of the OLD BROOKLYN VIBES
2. Transformers after party because most of everyone I love was there… from both sides of my family and many areas of my life.
3. A pic of it because it meant so much
4. My 32nd birthday party. “ you could be anywhere in the world but you were there with me”
5. BALI, Indonesia because well… it’s Bali Indonesia
6. Joshua Tree because God was presence and I was held and supported
7. I recorded my first two records this year and 3 very special souls helped me execute my DREAM
8. Swarm premiere my LA fam came strong
9. Transformers family and kids night because It was for the babies!
10. Idk why they did me like this 😂

EDIT- I looked back at this post and realize I did not include the Emmy announcement but this post was truly about the people and the people who were with me in that moment was with me in many other moments in this post 🙏🏽 I am blessed

Dominique Fishback Instagram - To be PRESENT. I owed myself a birthday detached from my phone as much as possible.

This whole week leading up to Dom Day as Prime video called it (🥹)was nothing short of epic.

SWARM premiered to so much love and praise …beyond what I could’ve hoped for.

I came home to Brooklyn and spend my birthday with Angela Yee ( out today 1pm et) and Z100( available now)

After that I went to Wyckoff Gardens Center in Brooklyn to speak to some kids. To be able to go there on my birthday felt more like purpose being fulfilled than a celebration of me. I didn’t not expect anything still they bought me cake and roses and sing Happy Birthday to me and counted up to 32 😳😂…Then I saw my mom and sister.

I came to my hotel with so many flowers waiting for me. I had FaceTime, calls and was showered with love. Thank you guys 🥹😍🥹

For me though-
