It left long-term repercussions that completely ruined my healthy natural relationship with food, which was only meant to bring joy. It’s been 3 years since I recognized my disordered eating habits. I am still recovering. I still occasionally (but a lot less) struggle through body image issues. I’d get into obsessive thoughts about food & weight & what I ate / what I should eat, etc.. In the past the default reaction would be to force myself into action sprouting from thoughts of self-deficiency and negative self-image. But now I keep reminding myself of one of my favorite quotes – we can’t shame ourselves into change, only love ourselves into evolution. And it’s been a game changer in how I look at situations whenever I feel old toxic patterns kicking in. You can’t shame yourself into change, only love yourself into evolution. 🙏🏻❤️ And what a waste of precious fking energy and time I have on Earth to be focusing on all the wrong things!!!!!! 😅😭WE HAVE SO MUCH MORE TO OFFER THAN OUR BODY FAT PERCENTAGE!!!!🤣🤣🤣 January 2024 has been an amazing start to this year already. Caption : I put myself through all the toxic diet trends all throughout my 20s. It left long-term repercussions that completely ruined my healthy natural relationship with food, which was only meant to bring joy. It’s been 3 years since I recognized my disordered eating habits. I am still recovering. I still occasionally (but a lot less) struggle through body image issues. I’d get into obsessive thoughts about food & weight & what I ate / what I should eat, etc.. In the past the default reaction would be to force myself into action sprouting from thoughts of self-deficiency and negative self-image. And we don’t stop to question what we think we already know. This is obviously very unlike the modern definition, referring to everything else in this world – animals, trees, oceans, etc. (but humans). We see ourselves as something separate from the rest of existence, which I also learned today apparently stemmed from the concept of naturalism and Medieval Christian theology that said nature is something we need to conquer. Later, the translation of this western interpretation came to be adopted here as well – hence the word remained the same, but lost its original meaning. According to how our ancestors put it, nature is simply, the state of being oneself, and that includes us humans.
