Jessica Pimentel Instagram - Has this happened to you? How long is this going to last??!!! In August 2023 I lost my sense of smell. This was after music festival tour season so I'm guessing a viral side effect. For months I could smell nothing until the end December 2023 when I was hit with another viral infection after a tour run which restored partial sense of smell, but now almost all my favorite scents smell the same and terrible, especially anything with a strong alcohol base. For example, Listerine, husband's cologne, my favorite perfume, windshield wiper fluid and wine all smell the same and deadly. It also applies to my favorite conditioner and incense. It kind of smells like if you ate a box incense, pooped it out and let it get moldy... I can however, smell essential oils, menthol and things on fire. Anything with a faint smell is still almost non-existent.. If this happened to you how long did it take for things to get back to normal? Jessica Pimentel Instagram - Labor Day! Thanks to my phone for reminding me that it's been one year since we went into tech rehearsals for the stage play Jasper on 42nd Street NYC. Although I have worn many "bellies" over my acting career, none was as satisfying as this one as I got to experience audible gasps every night from a live audience when I made this quick and powerful reveal/plot twist that ended the show. I didn't want to share this photo at the time as I didn't want to spoil the show for the hundreds of people that came to see us during our run. It was a moment I treasured every performance. It was different every night and moving in a different way each show. Labor Day is extra special this year as the Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America are both on strike. I first met you at your first New York show at Webster Hall in 2010. My first time seeing you live although your voice had been screaming obscenities in my ears since I was a teenager. I jumped on stage and grabbed the mic and you didn't kick me off. That was one of the happiest days of my life. I think it was fate that years later I would have some of the best moments in my life sharing a stage with you. You named me and encouraged me to be the voice of angry and strong brown women around the world, covered head to toe and screaming my face off for justice and for that I'll always be grateful. Thank you for letting me be a small part of such a huge and important thing. So many years together. So many adventures. So many ridiculous stories that no one could, would, or should ever believe and never a moment of static between us. I will miss you very dearly big brother. And now my heart is fully broken too. Jessica Pimentel Instagram - Sitting in the hotel room in Helsinki Finland reflecting on how 2 months and 2 days ago I went from a red carpet premiere in Manhattan straight to Tibetan Buddhist Temple in the mountains of Vermont where I was able to complete a promise that I made to my teacher 21 years ago. It was my first time returning to this place since 2008. I sat in group meditation roughly 9-10 hours a day for 12 days starting our sessions at 8am and finishing around 10pm learning from one of the greatest living masters in all the world. Surrounded by advanced practitioners and monks and nuns helping us every step of the way. This is just a drop of what I could tell you about this and many other retreats I have done. I realize that most of you know me as a crazy NYHC metal head, or some fancy actress, or musician, dancer, a radio DJ, Latina, Brooklyn girl, New Yorker, or that amazing drummer's wife and all of these are true but I remind you to not let conventional appearances fool you. We are all multifaceted and the most important facet in my life is my Buddhist practice. Usually I keep most of it to myself but I want you to know that whatever I do, The art I put out, No matter how unconventional or aggressive, the images I post, even the clothing/Jewelry I wear, it is all with an underlying base rooted in my Buddhist beliefs. I want to bring joy and understanding on how to ease suffering. I want to be the light in the darkness. I made a promise and the first part of it is complete. The second promise was that I would start speaking more openly about my beliefs. And how being a Buddhist has changed my mind, heart and life for the better. I'm very excited to share this with you. I believe that many of us have a preconceived idea of what Buddhists are supposed to look like or how they're supposed to act and I'm here to show you that there are many faces and many ways to practice and many ways to be free. Jessica Pimentel Instagram - Paying my respects for the second time in a day to the iconic @andrewlloydwebber show @phantomopera which has been a part of my life for my entire life and is one of the reasons why I do what I do today. I've seen the show almost every year since 1989 sometimes more than once. I've gone with friends, family and by myself. Every time I saw it I found something new. Ive sat in every section from AA 2 (too close) to rear mezz. I know every word, every note, and how each Phantom and Christine sang their parts differently over the years. I grew up with this soundtrack playing constantly in my home and got to play the oveture on violin with my orchestra at Carnegie Hall. I graduated from @theacademyinstagram at the @majestictheatre and stepped on that stage two more times to speak to graduating classes after me. I think I scared the wardrobe department by knowing exactly which outfit belonged to which chorus actor. Last October I got to sing the Christine high notes with real life phantom @raminkarimloo and was later serenaded by him with "Music of the Night". I started every morning drinking from my PTO mug, entered my house with keys on a PTO keychain and stored my guitar picks in a PTO matchox. I still have all these things. I cannot tell you how many countless hours I let myself escape into that world. Iearned every part, every move, learned all the words, learned every dance. Here at the Opera house was A world where people understood me. They knew that box 5 should always be kept empty as per the ghosts instructions. Here they understood the sacrifices that needed to be made for art. They understood that music was sometimes the only bridge of connection when you felt alone and outcast and unseen and hated. Music is love and love is music. And the night is full of both when your heart is sad and lonely and heavy and dark. We are not merely losing a show on Broadway. I am losing one of my best friends. Jessica Pimentel Instagram - The last time I saw Depeche Mode I was coming from a memorial service. It was the service of one of my dearest, oldest, closest friends and brother Andrew. We had planned to go to that show together. The deal was I would buy the tickets for the first night and he would buy the second night.. Tickets were bought, flights booked But the trip was never made as he passed away suddenly from an agressive cancer and it's complications.. We didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. In fact, We were kind of in a little fight as siblings often have And I didn't answer his last call. That still hurts. My amazing partner agreed to go with me for the first night and Ironically, painfully, fittingly , Andrew's memorial was on the day of the second show .. the worst day for all New Yorkers, September 11th. At some point, through all the hugs and tears it occurred to me that my jerk Brother still owed me a ticket!! I laughed so freaking hard Because I knew I had to go now. He wouldn't have wanted it any other way and I couldn't think of any other way to honor him and be more New York than going to a concert at Madison square garden on the saddest day ever. Thankfully, a friend helped me get a last minute box seat and I danced and cried and danced and sang and cheered till I lost my voice and my feet were throbbing. Yesterday was no different. I got to see the @depechemode 'Momento Mori' tour last night after coming from a full day of prayers for a funeral service fittingly on the saddest day of the year for most New York metalheads 4/14, when we lost Peter Steele. šŸ–¤ Thank you David Thank you Martin. After Temple I went to church. šŸ–¤ Momento Mori, Lama Zopa. Peter Steele. Andrew Borden and especially Andy Fletcher... It was my first time returning to this place since 2008. I sat in group meditation roughly 9-10 hours a day for 12 days starting our sessions at 8am and finishing around 10pm learning from one of the greatest living masters in all the world. Surrounded by advanced practitioners and monks and nuns helping us every step of the way. This is just a drop of what I could tell you about this and many other retreats I have done. I realize that most of you know me as a crazy NYHC metal head, or some fancy actress, or musician, dancer, a radio DJ, Latina, Brooklyn girl, New Yorker, or that amazing drummer's wife and all of these are true but I remind you to not let conventional appearances fool you. We are all multifaceted and the most important facet in my life is my Buddhist practice. Usually I keep most of it to myself but I want you to know that whatever I do, The art I put out, No matter how unconventional or aggressive, the images I post, even the clothing/Jewelry I wear, it is all with an underlying base rooted in my Buddhist beliefs. I want to bring joy and understanding on how to ease suffering. I want to be the light in the darkness. I made a promise and the first part of it is complete. The second promise was that I would start speaking more openly about my beliefs. And how being a Buddhist has changed my mind, heart and life for the better. I'm very excited to share this with you. I believe that many of us have a preconceived idea of what Buddhists are supposed to look like or how they're supposed to act and I'm here to show you that there are many faces and many ways to practice and many ways to be free. I grew up with this soundtrack playing constantly in my home and got to play the oveture on violin with my orchestra at Carnegie Hall. I graduated from @theacademyinstagram at the @majestictheatre and stepped on that stage two more times to speak to graduating classes after me. I think I scared the wardrobe department by knowing exactly which outfit belonged to which chorus actor. Last October I got to sing the Christine high notes with real life phantom @raminkarimloo and was later serenaded by him with "Music of the Night". I started every morning drinking from my PTO mug, entered my house with keys on a PTO keychain and stored my guitar picks in a PTO matchox. I still have all these things. I cannot tell you how many countless hours I let myself escape into that world. Iearned every part, every move, learned all the words, learned every dance. Here at the Opera house was A world where people understood me. They knew that box 5 should always be kept empty as per the ghosts instructions. Here they understood the sacrifices that needed to be made for art. They understood that music was sometimes the only bridge of connection when you felt alone and outcast and unseen and hated. Music is love and love is music. And the night is full of both when your heart is sad and lonely and heavy and dark. We are not merely losing a show on Broadway. I am losing one of my best friends.
