I’ve been a huge fan of hers for years and have always wondered how she created her pieces, and this book sheds some light on her process. She would ask her dancers questions like “What are the limits of tenderness?”, and so the pieces would build out of the dancers’ responses. There is so much depth to how she worked and this lays it out so well. I’m making notes, thinking about how we can use her wisdom in the record-making world. It points towards proper collaboration and there are many beautiful parallels. She’s quoted as saying “What do we do? We speak about life and love.”

There is a toast master and toasts are made for every person at the table, as well as absent loved ones. I often wonder about how the younger generation will carry it on? At first all that food might seem too extravagant, but what’s cool about those dishes is that they can last, after a supra we usually dine on that food for days. The supra can also be relaxed and informal, with people coming and going. I love that the tradition hasn’t changed much from my grandparents to my parents’ generation. What traditions do you cherish from your home and how do you see them evolving?

The morning began with a book—a history of all the different religions—and as we made our way to the beach that day, every time we bumped into someone you knew, you’d stop and read them certain sections from it. Your calling in life, from when I came along, was to feed people and host the greatest supras. That delighted the 8-year-old me, confounded the 17-year-old me, and then, sometime in my 20s, your four degrees in culinary arts finally made sense once I was old enough to hear the stories of hunger in the gulags. You were one of the sportiest, with early morning bike rides well into your 60s and 70s. Your sense of humour—your love of joking around, or as we call it, Shakhiri—was truly unmatched. Thank you for giving me the greatest Grandad anyone could ever ask for. RIP K x

Katie Melua Instagram - Dear friends, I’m writing this from my hotel room in Wolfsburg where the band, crew and I are staying. I’m so sorry to say I have to cancel today’s show. I have been fighting a really horrible virus which has zapped all my energy, and I won’t be able to do the show all of you deserve to see and hear. I would normally fight through it, but my body is yelling at me to stay in bed. I know many of you are traveling long distances to come and see the show tonight, I just hate to disappoint you, but we all know health is the most essential thing before all else. I promise I will make it up to you all. For a full refund on your ticket please contact your ticket seller.

The morning began with a book—a history of all the different religions—and as we made our way to the beach that day, every time we bumped into someone you knew, you’d stop and read them certain sections from it. Your calling in life, from when I came along, was to feed people and host the greatest supras. That delighted the 8-year-old me, confounded the 17-year-old me, and then, sometime in my 20s, your four degrees in culinary arts finally made sense once I was old enough to hear the stories of hunger in the gulags. You were one of the sportiest, with early morning bike rides well into your 60s and 70s. Your sense of humour—your love of joking around, or as we call it, Shakhiri—was truly unmatched. Thank you for giving me the greatest Grandad anyone could ever ask for. RIP K x
