Kristin Kreuk Instagram - It’s an ABBA SMALLVILLE folks 🪩

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - Listen. I don’t love getting my photo taken. Ask any friend I have ever had. Because of my job, I feel capable of getting photoshoots done. Efficiently and with minimal grumbling. That said, I haven’t had pictures taken of me commissioned by me since I was 18 (headshots). I realize now that part of why the self-commissioned process is challenging is that I have to look at all these pictures of myself and I struggle to not be super judge-y. But part of why it’s great(!) is that there is a much higher chance of getting shots that are more reflective of me. Kristine did that. I think. I mean. Who knows. I have no idea what external representation reflects me best. Ha. But! Kristine took many shots that reflect what I think best represents me. I’ve included two that she posted as they are lovely. I have also included one that hasn’t been touched up but makes me laugh (the 3rd image). The final image is not Kristine’s—it was taken by Marcus on the set of Burden of Truth and I feel it helps to complete the story. Anywho (apparently it’s “anyhoo” y’all)! I’m still picking pictures. But you all will see them as time passes. If you are in Vancouver and want some lovely shots of yourself— @theportraitsessions

Pictures 1-3 taken by @theportraitsessions and 💄 by @beautyreawakened

Edited to add: to the person who asked me about Lana’s book recommendation via a friend at Steel City Con: I think I have an answer!

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - This is 41. Thank you for your lovely bday messages. Touches my grumbly heart. I have nothing profound for y’all. The pictures are from recent days and many of my favorite things. Walks and nature and books (that is probably my last fiction read of the year and tons of fun) and travels and old buildings and the friends and family that live just beyond the camera’s lens. Hope you all had a year filled with love, learning, generosity, and curiosities piqued and pursued. May your final days of 2023 be cozy. Muah!!

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - It’s been a magnificent few weeks in Scotland filled with hill walking, old buildings, smoked fish, and islands (also sheep, coos, whisky, gorse, and heather). I have about a bajillion pics. These are 10. I may post more in stories just to exhaust you. (Also—I’ll be in Dortmund, Germany this weekend for a con—hope to see some of you there. Or in Telford next weekend!)

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - Happy 2022, all. I am too lazy to take new photos (those are my late grandparents w me back in the 80s, and a teeny excerpt from a book worth reading called “On Time and Water” by Andri Snær Magnason). But. Thank you for all the birthday wishes. It means so much. I wish you all a 2022 steeped in community and care. 😘😘😘

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - September things.

Book excerpts are from “Geographies of Exclusion” by David Sibley and “Devil House” by John Darnielle. The latter is a critique of true crime as a genre housed in a novel about a true crime writer (although I didn’t *love* the book, the ideas resonated and have stuck with me… I am critical of true crime and Darnielle really dissects the genre from multiple vantage points here). The former is a nonfiction work exploring how some groups are signaled as being unwelcome in public spaces (I took a critical urban geography class in school and this scratches that itch).

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - I am about to start a new acting job. So my life is a lot busier than it typically is. It’s a funny time in the life of a TV series bc I am building a character but also dealing with logistics and meeting new people and feeling the uncertainty of what set will be like. It is never like this again on any particular show. And I admit, I am happy to have this part end and the daily work begin. But I am trying to live this beginning in a slightly different way. Anyway. The pics are 1) from that @kristinecofskyphotography shoot from early last year bc I haven’t posted it. Ha. 2) pretty vancouver beach days. 3) KLM houses in pretty morning light.

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!! When I was nearing 12, I realized that the end of my childhood was fast approaching. I *knew* that I would soon be 40 and time will have flown by. In response, I actively sought out playgrounds and swing sets and all things I thought were most associated with kid-ness. I had some understanding that being a kid was a one time deal. And I wanted to soak it up. (Although dear lord was I a dramatic child) Now. I am 40:) and my 12 year old self was kind of right—the years do go by quickly, and they only move in one direction. I think John Green writes eloquently about this idea in his latest essay collection “The Anthropocene Reviewed.” We only get each experience once. But she was also unable to understand how much goes into those years. How they can be painful and tedious and glorious and frustrating and embarrassing and filled with love. My thirties went by quickly. But the me living them was far wiser and less serious than the me who lived my twenties. I plan to pay more attention this decade (should I get the entire decade bc who knows-you know?). And I hope this trend toward greater wisdom and less self seriousness continues. Sending you all love and wishing you a wonderful 2023!

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - It’s been a lot press stuff - there will be more. So here are some moments from the summer. Nature, Dragon Con in Atlanta (collecting ribbons and learning about @ericjohnson ‘s Chappell Roan obsession and watching the very inclusive fan love), revisiting LA (promoting a show no less. How wild), reading. There were friends and family in there too. Hope everyone is ready for school season. Muah.

Muah.

Kristin Kreuk Instagram - It’s a day I don’t celebrate but appreciate that many others do. I hope you are all loving each other and yourselves in ways that help you grow, feel cozy, break your heart (and mend it), make you brave, and allow you to hide when necessary. My cats and I present your feed with pink and red pictures of us along with poetry by the brilliant Eve Ewing.

Origin Story(by Eve Ewing from her book “Electric Arches”)
“This is true:
my mother and my father met at the Grevhound bus station in the mid-eighties in Chicago. my mother, all thick glass and afro puff, came west on the train when she was nineteen, lived in a friend's house and cared for her children, played tambourine in a Chaka Khan cover band. my'father, all sleeveless and soft eye, ran away from home when he was seventeen, mimeographed communist newspapers and drew comic books
like this one, for sale. one dollar. my mother bought one.
love is like a comic book. it's fragile and the best we can do is protect it in whatever clumsy ways we can: plastic and cardboard, dark rooms and boxes. in this way, something never meant to last
might find its way to another decade, another home, an attic, a basement, intact.
love is paper.
and if my parents' love was a comic book, it never saw polyvinyl, never felt a backing.
it was curled into a back pocket for a day at the park, lent to a friend, read under covers,
reread hanging upside down over the back of the couch,
memorized, mishandled, worm thin, staples rusted.
a love like that doesn’t last
but it has a good ending.” -Eve Ewing

Kristin Kreuk - 164.1K Likes - Listen.

Kristin Kreuk - 107.1K Likes - This is 41. Muah!!

Hope you all had a year filled with love, learning, generosity, and curiosities piqued and pursued. May your final days of 2023 be cozy. Muah!!

Kristin Kreuk - 86.4K Likes - It’s been a magnificent few weeks in Scotland filled with hill walking, old buildings, smoked fish, and islands (also sheep, coos, whisky, gorse, and heather). I have about a bajillion pics. These are 10. I may post more in stories just to exhaust you. (Also—I’ll be in Dortmund, Germany this weekend for a con—hope to see some of you there. Or in Telford next weekend!)

Kristin Kreuk - 80.3K Likes - Happy 2022, all. 😘😘😘

Kristin Kreuk - 62K Likes - I am about to start a new acting job.

Muah.

Kristin Kreuk - 55.7K Likes - It’s a day I don’t celebrate but appreciate that many others do.
