Caption : Thank you Grace. Thank you for always speaking your truth. Thank you for never wavering from your passionate fight for justice for survivors of sexual assault. Thank you for doing everything within your power to make sure over the last 12 months that those in charge were listening, and acting on much-needed change. Thank you for an incredible year of using your platform so wisely, thoughtfully, passionately and authentically. Thank you too for showing us the searing power of female friendship. The combined force of nature that you and @brittanyhiggins___ have now become, gives so many of us hope for the future. Grace, the imprint you leave as Australian Of The Year will be felt for generations to come. Finally, and most importantly Grace, thank you for making noise…just like you promised you would. Caption : Just sayin’… And here’s to women everywhere being able to happily – and safely – take themselves out to dinner after a long day to do some work, plough through a few dozen emails, text friends, have a cheeky cocktail, eat broccoli (because, hey, greens!), catch up on some reading, wear clothes, tuck their hair behind one ear, and place a white napkin on their lap in peace…without worrying about being shamed or judged or dissected or made to feel totally violated and stalked by some creepy guy secretly taking pictures for some toxic tabloid website designed to make you look sad and lonely…when you’re actually having a great night, doing EXACTLY what you want to be doing, and with EXACTLY the person you want to be with. In peace. Minding your own business. Not hurting anyone. Yeah, just sayin’…Likes : 22756

And of course that meant the moment I left the building, I’d get papp-ed… 👣 Here’s to the warm memory of two years of wearing trackies and sneakers… 😂Likes : 15111

Caption : So declared Assistant US Attorney Maurene Comey to jurors in her closing address in the trial of now-convicted sex trafficker and former partner of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell. She went on: “Maxwell never thought that those teenage girls would have the strength to report what happened to them. In her eyes, they were just trash beneath her.” So, in a year when so many women of all ages dug deep, found their voices and courageously came forward to tell their stories, here is to ALL the Janes, Kates, Carolyns, Annies, Brittanys, Graces, and so so many others….thank you. Your extraordinary – and continued – bravery is helping to build a better, safer world for all our daughters – and sons – to come. @brittanyhiggins___ @tamepunk @gracetamefoundationLikes : 14713

And I feel so lucky to have now also shared the last five years at the Project desk with you, Carrie. Your friendship and generosity have meant the world to me. Thanks too for your guidance and support right from day one…and for always knowing just the right moment to reach out with a kind word. I will forever be in awe of the way you have managed to juggle it all so superbly for the last 13 incredible years: awesome mum, journalist, charity patron, and chief wrangler of @mrstommylittle We mere mortals will never know how you did it all with so much grace, good humour and all that glamour. (Let’s face it, you’ve always been the best-dressed one at the desk – sorry Waleed, @pjhelliar & Hamish, but you know it’s true!) Back from hols after a week of healthy food, fresh air, mountain walks, rockpool swims, new friends, lots of reading, no internet, yes, baking in mud, and even jumping off cliffs (ok, a small hillside) in QLD’s stunning Currumbin Valley. So good for the soul. Thanks for a beautiful week @eden_health_retreat … although I really wish you hadn’t introduced me to those deadly-but-supposedly-healthy Choc Coconut Bounty Bars. First an email, and then a phone call…and so began a chain of events that, four incredibly intense weeks behind-the-scenes later on Feb 15, would create headlines across the country and go on to change the lives of countless women – and men – forever. The courage you have shown over the past year Britt, and the passion you have in continuing to drive change in the workplace and for survivors of sexual assault has been an absolute inspiration to be around. Caption : Life is fragile. And no-one knows that better right now, than multi-Olympic-gold-medallist and former seven-time World Record holding champion swimmer, @michaelklim1. Since his days smashing it in the pool alongside lifelong buddies, Ian Thorpe, Daniel Kowalski and Chris Fydler, Michael’s world has now become one of chronic pain and endless hospital stays, after he was diagnosed with a crippling auto-immune disorder with no known cure, called CIDP. Those legs and feet that years ago propelled him to greatness in the water have been eaten away and left him unable to walk, unassisted. And his future right now is unknown. Tonight, on the Sunday Project, I sit down with Michael, his wonderful partner Michelle, and gorgeous kids, Stella, Rocco and Frankie, who are all fighting alongside him to try and raise awareness of this crippling disorder. This disease is incredibly cruel, and Michael is, quite simply, a beautiful man. Tonight, 6.30pm on @theprojecttv on @channel10au @ian.thorpe @michelleowen @fydes02 @danielkowalski775Likes : 11549

Caption : I grew up completely devouring the Mary Tyler Moore Show every Saturday night…and even though I had a massive girl-crush on the exquisite Mary (her joy, her job, her decency, her apartment, her clothes, her open-top sports car and that big old “M” on her apartment wall), it was the entire cast that made it all so perfect – including the adorable Betty White who played Sue-Ann, and pretty much stole every scene she was in. Much like, it seems, the way she lived her entire life. Singer, actor, comedian, talk show host, animal rights activist, humanitarian, equality trailblazer, and by all reports, a total sweetheart. So sad to think the whole cast is gone now… So rest well, Betty White. I’m so glad you knew how much we all loved you while you were still with us. And thank you for reminding us too, that to be a good human, and always defy expectations, really IS a great way to live a life… #BettyWhiteLikes : 10724

Caption : In 2009, at the age of 50, actor, screenwriter and all ‘round legend of a woman, Emma Thompson, sat down and wrote a letter to her younger self. I was reminded of this letter today reading about her recently revealed thoughts on how she dealt with the time she discovered years before, that her husband, Kenneth Branagh, was regularly cheating on her. God I love her attitude…to everything. Always quick to call out Hollywood’s obsession with ageing and unrealistic beauty standards, she once even threatened to quit a movie when her female co-star was told to lose weight. This letter sums it all up really…Likes : 10456

Caption : Thoughts are with George Negus and his family today with the sad news of his dementia diagnosis. An icon of Australian journalism – 60 Minutes, Today Show, Foreign Correspondent, countless brilliant writings…and in his early years, reportedly a much-loved school teacher. George’s warm words of encouragement when I first joined Today meant the world…as did the morning when he inadvertently found himself co-hosting with me for many hours running expert political commentary on the day Julia Gillard took office in 2010 (after originally turning up for just three minutes to talk World Cup Soccer). It was an honour, a privilege and a joy I will never forget….as I send love to every family right now dealing with the ravages of this shockingly cruel disease. ❤️Likes : 10206

Caption : And just like that, hubby @peter_fitzsimons’ brand new book on the extraordinary story behind the building of one of the most breathtakingly beautiful buildings on the planet, the Sydney Opera House, is launched…and it’s an absolute cracker! The conception. The political in-fighting. The piece of fruit that inspired the design. The real story behind architect Jorn Utzon’s famed walk off mid-build and his refusal to ever return. The sex scandal. The broken lives. The triumphs. The tragic kidnapping & murder. Funny stories from behind the scenes as Queen Elizabeth launched this architectural icon on an impossibly windy day in October 1973…and so much more. Available right now in all good bookstores, and I promise, you’re going to love it! ❤️❤️❤️📚🥂 PS. Love you to share any favourite memories you have of your own encounters with this exquisite building. Mine is my very first: one year after opening, in “Rocktober” 1974, when radio station 2SM put on a free concert IN the actual Concert Hall, with its bright neon pink and white chairs. It was the first time mum had ever let me catch a train to the city with my girlfriends. We lined up for hours with thousands of others, in our Lee jeans and cheesecloth tops, and somehow scored tickets. The bands on the card that day? First up, AC/DC still fronted by the legendary Bon Scott…and then the brilliant Stevie Wright from The Easybeats, now solo and with the number one single in the country “Evie, Parts One, Two and Three”, which from memory went for about 25 minutes that day. Together, they – and all of us screaming it out in the audience – just about blew the top of those beautiful, soaring white sails right off! (Evie, Evie, Evie let your hair hang down…) 🎤🎶🎼🎸🥁🤩⭐️🌟🥰 #booksofinstagram #goodreads #sydneyoperahouse @hachetteaus @booktopiabooks @bigwaustralia @applebooks @dymocksbooks @qbdbooks @peter_fitzsimons @billifitz @sydneyoperahouse @sydney #sydneyLikes : 8654

Caption : It’s just about impossible for me to put into words what I’ve seen on the ground here in Lismore this week. Lives and livelihoods destroyed, hearts broken, homes beyond repair, their entire contents – everything these beautiful families once held dear – now mud-soaked and strewn in metres-high piles on the footpath awaiting giant garbage trucks heading for the tip. Tables they once sat at, beds they once slept in, photos they once cherished, bikes, dolls, toys, fridges, TVs…every momento part of someone’s story, every broken tile a piece of someone’s home. I’ve found myself as we’ve walked these streets, imagining the robust lives that just two weeks ago were being lived here never knowing what was heading their way. These homes are now empty, most uninhabitable, their windows wide open hoping to extinguish the unmistakable gut-punching smell that floods leave behind. It’s the smell of death, rotting garbage, raw sewerage and mud. There are no dogs barking or birds tweeting, it’s just silent and that’s not what this area is. It’s normally so loud and colourful and now all you hear is the sound of gurneys and generators and helicopters. The devastation here is unimaginable, thousands upon thousands of people have been displaced, living in temporary accomodation, many living off the kindness of strangers. Those who are still here are raw, exhausted, and running on adrenaline, but the community spirit is incredible. That alone though won’t keep them going. Government response and assistance has been slow and in some cases non-existent, many are uninsured because of sky-high premiums, and tricky clauses…so they desperately need our help. This will take years to fix. So if you can spare anything at all, the following organisations are doing wonderful work not just in Lismore, but in ALL the affected flood zones of the last few weeks in NSW and QLD. Whatever you can spare, thank u. And please know it WILL make a difference🙏💔 @givit_aus @lifelineaustralia @salvosau @aussiehelpinghands @redcrossau Let’s do this!!! 🇦🇺 #flood #floods #lismore St Carthage’s Cathedral 📸 by Kirran Shah.Likes : 8293

Caption : A very quick visit to Los Angeles for work (which includes what I know you’ll find a very surprising interview with @parishilton that you’ll see this Sunday on the Sunday Project), and in the process I’ve had a small bucket list moment ticked off – lunch at the iconic Ivy restaurant. I first walked past this place on Robertson Boulevard back in the 80s, never daring to look in…but also never imagining just how darn pretty it is inside. Swipe left for some of the most gorgeous garden roses you’ll ever see. Didn’t want to leave! And yes, it was worth the 35 year wait…😋🌺 #losangeles #ivy #roses #rosesofinstagramLikes : 7979

And today, for the first time in three years, I planked – and managed three and a half minutes. Pretty happy with that! A bit to go to get back to my previous record of 6 minutes, but sometimes it’s the small wins, right? And I’m getting there!! 💪🏼🤞💃❤️😉🎉Likes : 7502

Caption : Totally blown away to discover that my autobiography, “It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This” has been nominated for @booktopiabooks Favourite Australian Book Award for 2021. Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me so many beautiful messages since it’s release (I read every single one of them, I promise, and have laughed, cried, empathised and been truly humbled by the effect the book has had on so many. I have tried too to get back to as many as possible!). A huge thank you too to Booktopia for their support and this fantastic award that spotlights ALL of our wonderful local authors. 📚 🇦🇺Likes : 7311
