Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - The classic trench coat becomes the focal point of a fascinating #Dior Couture Spring-Summer 2024 stylistic exercise. Opening up the creative frontiers for this iconic item of Parisian chic, @MariaGraziaChiuri has totally rethought its archetypal aura by calling on the savoir-faire of the House's ateliers alike to cut cotton twill into belted dresses and voluminous outerwear.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - ‘La Cigale’, a dress by Monsieur Dior from 1952, was an important influence in @MariaGraziaChiuri’s development of #DiorCouture Spring-Summer 2024. Its imposing architecture is seen reprised here in red moiré faille with more contemporary lines, a slimmed effect echoed by a tulle gown that recreates the twinkling embroideries of 1951’s ‘Mexique’ without the multilayered structure beneath. Among the other modern updates with heritage provence that came down the runway were polka dots and a caramel shantung #DiorBarJacket.

A white crêpe column exemplifies this type of #DiorSavoirFaire with its rows of precise pleats smocked to secure the positioning of the neckline and waist, while another draped dress is ingeniously gathered into a basketweave panel at the front. In red moiré faille, a pleated full skirt is paired with an update on the #DiorBarJacket to reinvent the original and peerless New Look icon.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - Archival research always constitutes an important part of my collections. For this 2025 Dior autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection we were inspired by these stockings from the 1950s, now preserved in the Dior archives and and re-issued for this seasons’ collection featuring some new designs as well as the original.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - 1967 was the year in which the Miss Dior line was born: the Maison’s first prêt-a-porter collection, designed by Marc Bohan together with his right-hand man Philippe Guibourgé. In September of the same year, Marc Bohan opened the Maison’s first ready-to-wear store in Paris. The new line was aimed at a young clientele, it was designed for a new generation.
This represents a turning point in fashion, a moment of transition into a new approach to clothing, as the crafts involved in Haute Couture evolved into methods that would allow for the serial production of clothing. Thus the Miss Dior collection opens up the possibility of reproducing a garment, and shapes in a modern way the woman’s body.
The collection immediately became popular and many celebrities, such as Sofia Loren or actress Annie Buron-Fosse appeared wearing the Miss Dior line in major magazines editorials like Vogue.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - Proud to have created a custom Haute Couture @dior gown for the mezzo-soprano @saintcirelaxelle who sang the French national anthem, the Marseillaise, for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games held in Paris last night.
We revisited the French flag to create a peplum flag dress in one single piece.
The choir also wore some special peplums echoing the colours of the french flag as well as holding flags with @faithringgold motto Woman/Freedom.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - I am extremely happy and excited to be in New York and to be able to present the @Dior Autumn Winter 2024 collection at the Brooklyn Museum. Ever since my arrival at Dior in 2016, I have had the dream of presenting a collection in this incredible cultural center. The Brooklyn Museum has been my first stop in every trip to New York for the past eight years. This institution immediately recognised the central role of feminist art in the art world to tackle urgent social issues while pioneering new art forms. It is here that I came to see Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party and I first dreamed of collaborating with this incredible artist and pioneer. It is always here that through exhibitions and displays I was able to discover and continue to discover and be inspired by the artists and their works on show. I want to thank the incredible @AnnePasternak for making this place so special and for making this show possible.
Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - I feel so honoured to receive the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion 2024, the same one awarded to Monsieur Dior in 1947, and so many other great creatives. I am very fortunate to be able to make an impact on the fashion world through my work, and to continuously use my platform to promote women’s empowerment. Thank you Geoffrey and Lana, thank you Neiman Marcus for this recognition and congratulations to the fellow winners of this year’s awards @simon_porte_jacquemus and @danielroseberry
Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - Claire Fontaine’s installation in occasion of the @Dior Fall Winter 2024 show held at the @BrooklynMuseum features colourful suspended neon lights that echo the triangle hand gesture of 1970s feminist demonstrations, a homage to Santoro’s work on the female body and female form.
Each neon depicts the hands of several people involved in the project, a sort of collective portrait.
The hands raised in a triangle to form a vagina appeared in squares in the 1970s and its story is told in the fantastic book Il Gesto Femminista, edited by Ilaria Bussoni and Raffaella Perna, in which its origins and history are traced with archive images and contributions from sociologists, philosophers, art historians, photographers and film directors, all women.

“Hands spread like wings to recall the women’s revolt when their hands were raised to form a rhombus, materialising the vagina. [...] To have brought the vagina out in the open, being as desired as unknown, was an act of rare visual violence, because to materialise it, to duplicate it with our fingers, was also a way of exorcising it, of freeing ourselves from its slavery, of freeing a secret from the darkness that surrounds us.” Claire Fontaine

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - Our last Haute-Couture Spring-Summer 2024 collection brought to light the incommensurable cultural value of the relationship between fabrics and their aura.
Once again, thank you to Karishma and to the Chanakya School of Craft for continuously realizing our shared vision for the show space, the fruit of the collective work of women and to Paola Ugolini and Maria Alicata for curating the beautiful artist installation.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram - The research that the Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni has been carrying out since the early 2000s is based on the themes of power and vulnerability. The creation of armours for women is meant to protect the body from the social and patriarchal constraints intrinsic to the traditional social and domestic system.
I was particularly fascinated by these armours- they defend the female body while caging it, hindering its freedom.
I am very happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with @shakuntala.kulkarni for the installation hosting today’s @dior Autumn Winter 2025 show.

Among the other modern updates with heritage provence that came down the runway were polka dots and a caramel shantung #DiorBarJacket.

For this 2025 Dior autumn/winter ready-to-wear collection we were inspired by these stockings from the 1950s, now preserved in the Dior archives and and re-issued for this seasons’ collection featuring some new designs as well as the original.

Maria Grazia Chiuri - 11.9K Likes - 1967 was the year in which the Miss Dior line was born: the Maison’s first prêt-a-porter collection, designed by Marc Bohan together with his right-hand man Philippe Guibourgé.

We revisited the French flag to create a peplum flag dress in one single piece.
The choir also wore some special peplums echoing the colours of the french flag as well as holding flags with @faithringgold motto Woman/Freedom.

Maria Grazia Chiuri - 8K Likes - I am extremely happy and excited to be in New York and to be able to present the @Dior Autumn Winter 2024 collection at the Brooklyn Museum.

Maria Grazia Chiuri - 7.6K Likes - Claire Fontaine’s installation in occasion of the @Dior Fall Winter 2024 show held at the @BrooklynMuseum features colourful suspended neon lights that echo the triangle hand gesture of 1970s feminist demonstrations, a homage to Santoro’s work on the female body and female form.

Maria Grazia Chiuri - 6.8K Likes - The research that the Indian artist Shakuntala Kulkarni has been carrying out since the early 2000s is based on the themes of power and vulnerability.
