Shelly is a proud mother of three children and one of them is the handsome and kind-hearted Omar. Omar went to a party and did come back. Omar was kidnapped to Gaza and held by Hamas for 57 days !!! I see Shelly a lot, sometimes I allow myself to give her a hug and sometimes I just stare and left In owe. Her vulnerability, Her power . What a mother, what a woman. Shelly thanks everyone. And listens with gratitude. But I would like to Thank you. That despite your unspeakable pain you lead with compassion as you think of us ALL. And stay strong for Omer. For US. Caption : This year I have a lot to wish for. It has been the worst year of my life. The grief, pain and sorrow has swallowed me but I want to honor LIFE. I have survived. it comes with guilt but I allow the gratitude in as well. I am alive and I have friends, family and a life I have created. A daughter. I’m celebrating that. It’s ok. It doesn’t take the pain away but the pain needs a relief. Last night I wanted to be with FRIENDS and FAMILY because I NEED a community. I need people. And we have different opinions but we have a HEART leading us to chose to LIVE. Honor the dead and the LIVING. I don’t want to forget living. That darkness lives next to light. That tragedies happen but so do MIRACLES. And light lives despite and because of it. I’m grateful for my community that despite this has been the worst time in my life I am still able to find compassion. I Listen with curiosity and speak from my heart. And it may be visceral but I tell myself it’s ok I’m still bleeding but it is passion and love. No war can defeat my hope for humanity and peace yes peace with ourselves and with others. And it may be visceral but I tell myself it’s ok I’m still bleeding but it is passion and love. No war can defeat my hope for humanity and peace yes peace with ourselves and with others. I wish for a lot more this year cause a lot has been gone. And it might sound crazy but I rather be crazy and wish for Peace. Caption : My grandmother was married when she was 12 years old. I always thought it was part of the culture and of course didn’t like anything about it. But only in the recent years I learned why. My grandmother Aziza told me that Jewish girls, virgins were a target for Rape by Muslims in Marrocco so her father preferred to save her and marry her to my grandfather. Married women were other men’s possessions so they were left alone. Marrocco still remained unsafe and she and my grandfather left for Israel. Refugees. on the road. Through the desert. The streets. Arrested as they fail to escape. Till you shaved grandfather’s Beard so he won’t be recognized as a Jew. They arrived to Isarel with nothing but each other and your first baby. And build a home and a family. Aziza lost her first eldest Daugther but had seven more. Aziza worked. Cooked. Cleaned. Hosted holidays and Shabbat’s. Aziza knitted hundreds of sweaters for babies in need and raised an entire tribe to be grateful and give. Give and give. Aziza never said it was hard. She never complained or cried. She danced in every wedding so she could make the bride and groom happy as that is a Jewish Miztva. Only last year with years my grandfather and barrying her youngest special child she started crying. Crying rivers of decades. Crying like the 12 year that was never asked. ARE YOU OK? Forgive me that I didn’t want to believe it was dangerous for Jewish girls. Forgive me that I didn’t want to believe antisemitism was around the world. Forgive me that I didn’t ask how are you. Now I know. Now the world Knows. I’m sorry that when you were 12 you were Afraid of being kidnapped and raped. I’m sorry that your living through this again. With young Jewish girls raped in their homes and as they go to a party. And I’m grateful that you still chose to live and teach us LOVE. That your family tribe in service and spreads light and thank you for the mother you gave me that is the epiphany of giving and light. Our unity was our power. But on October 7th and since MeToo was silent. MeToo said nothing for the Israeli and Jewish women that were RAPED. MURDERED. VIOLATED. KIDNAPPED.
