We were best friends during the filming of Peter Pan (nearly 20 years ago 😱) and now we’re digital penpals across the pond. @iamcarsengray is one of the purest hearts out there, not to mention an incredible mama and musical talent. She’s the one who encouraged me to push through when I had feeding issues with my little Stella and the reason I’m still able to breastfeed now. I played Meredith, a puritan girl who needed rescued from scary demons by the titular character. We filmed in the beautiful Czech Republic countryside and froze our 🍑‘s off, but had a lot of laughs along the way. I also learned a few Czech words and phrases, one of which is the tongue-twister ‘Strč prst skrz krk’. I always thought it was something to do with firefighters but I just googled it and apparently it means stick a finger through the neck!?

Rachel Hurd-Wood Instagram - I finally got to watch this beautiful film, and loved it. Such fantastic performances from @everanderson and @alexandermolonyofficial as Wendy and Peter. They truly made the characters their own. As a sort of Neverland alumni, I felt proud to witness this new version. The one that will make a whole new generation of kids fall in love with the magic. When my two children are a little older, I’ll be sure to show them this film. Many of the cast members of the 2003 Peter Pan are parents too, now - we grew up! A huge well done to all involved 💗

Rachel Hurd-Wood Instagram - 🤳🏻 I took this pic a couple of weeks ago with the intention of posting it along with a positive message. Since then, with the whole Omicron of it all, I’ve just been hunkering down and being a social media creeper, doing lots of browsing of all my fave clothes brands to distract from the background hum of covid worry. 🎊 We had lots of pre and post Christmas plans for travel and socialising but have decided to postpone everything until things have settled again. It’s just everywhere, isn’t it!? 🦷 Meanwhile Stella’s getting her two front teeth just in time for Christmas (spare a thought for nursing mums of teething babies) and has a new habit of needing to claw my face (and gums!?) while falling asleep. Anyone else had that? I’m wearing a fantastic @bravadodesigns nursing bra (gifted), perfect for feeding and feeling comfy and supported ☺️ when not getting bitten or clawed…

Rachel Hurd-Wood Instagram - How’s everyone? Here’s a diary extract from the last week. I’ve been a little quiet on here as I’ve been laid up in bed with some sort of flu 😷 it wasn’t the Rona (I’m fully vaccinated anyway) but still knocked me out. Thankfully Russ and my mum were around to take care of the kids. After being a bit concerned that Stella was on the small side (people keep commenting on how petite she is), she was weighed today and I’m really happy that she’s doing just fine. She’s not that into food so we’re taking it slow with weaning. 🍌 I often wonder if there’s more to my life than just my kids as since they’ve arrived, they’ve been the focus and dominant force. It’s oft-repeated but true that they are now the reason for everything I do, every choice I make. Everything from work to lifestyle, big decisions and small are (mostly) made to prioritise them. Obviously they’re the most important thing but sometimes I long for the time to really focus on something else. And not just for the hour after they go to bed. Idk this is turning into an essay now but just felt like sharing. 🌷

Me: Can you play with some of your new toys? There’s a whole bag of them there. *patters out, then back in again* Liam: I don’t want to play with any of those toys. Me: Oh dude, please can you just give me five minutes? Then I promise we’ll play all afternoon. Liam: Oh-kayyy. I’ll just go in there and wait. Something that would have once felt like a chore, is now a huge privilege to have the time to do. (Running with a pram doesn’t give quite the same sense of freedom, I have tried it, but Stella just gets frustrated at being cooped up nowadays!) Grateful for the blue sky and a hit of endorphins today. And borrowing Russ’s @patagonia jacket, lightweight and warm against the 🥶 How are you today? X

They truly made the characters their own. As a sort of Neverland alumni, I felt proud to witness this new version. The one that will make a whole new generation of kids fall in love with the magic. I’ve been a little quiet on here as I’ve been laid up in bed with some sort of flu 😷 it wasn’t the Rona (I’m fully vaccinated anyway) but still knocked me out. Thankfully Russ and my mum were around to take care of the kids. After being a bit concerned that Stella was on the small side (people keep commenting on how petite she is), she was weighed today and I’m really happy that she’s doing just fine. She’s not that into food so we’re taking it slow with weaning. 🍌 I often wonder if there’s more to my life than just my kids as since they’ve arrived, they’ve been the focus and dominant force. It’s oft-repeated but true that they are now the reason for everything I do, every choice I make. Everything from work to lifestyle, big decisions and small are (mostly) made to prioritise them. Obviously they’re the most important thing but sometimes I long for the time to really focus on something else. And not just for the hour after they go to bed. Idk this is turning into an essay now but just felt like sharing. 🌷

Caption : Feeling relatively peaceful, and lucky that Russ is around to help with the kids, allowing me to go for a run this morning. Something that would have once felt like a chore, is now a huge privilege to have the time to do.
