Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - With a heart filled with gratitude and a mind filled with memories, I let the @meta board know that I will not stand for reelection this May. After I left my role as COO, I remained on the board to help ensure a successful transition. Under Mark's leadership, Javi Olivan, Justin Osofsky, Nicola Mendelsohn, and their teams have proven beyond a doubt that the Meta business is strong and well-positioned for the future, so this feels like the right time to step away. Going forward, I will serve as an advisor to the company, and I will always be there to help the Meta teams.

Serving as Facebook’s - and then Meta's - COO for 14 ½ years and a board member for 12 years has been the opportunity of a lifetime. I will always be grateful to Mark for believing in me and for his partnership and friendship; he is that truly once-in-a-generation visionary leader and he is equally amazing as a friend who stays by your side through the good times and the bad. I will always be grateful to my colleagues and teammates at Meta for all the years of working side by side and all they taught me. And I am particularly grateful to my fellow Meta board members for their lasting friendships, the guidance they provided me for so many years, and their stewardship of products that mean so much to people all over the world.

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - The last five days have been among the most emotional of my life. I spent them in Israel where I had the honor and privilege of working with Meny Aviram (@menyav) and the team at Kastina Communications to film a new documentary, “Screams Before Silence.”

I went with survivors to the grounds of the Nova Festival and stood with them as they shared how they survived that day and their heartbreak at the friends they lost. I walked through the eucalyptus trees with real life heroes who rescued hundreds of people and recovered the bodies of those we lost. I spoke with police investigators and first responders who saw with their own eyes the murder and mutilation of innocent civilians. And I sat and cried with released hostages, listening to their harrowing stories of survival and how they found humanity and resilience in each other.

All of these people tell the story of “Screams Before Silence.” They told stories of the unspeakable sexual violence that happened to women and men, old and young, many in the very last moments of their lives. For their sake — and for humanity’s sake — we must look squarely at what happened on October 7th and bear witness together. Rape is not resistance. Rape is not freedom fighting. We must stand together and make sure it is never used as a tool of war. #ScreamsBeforeSilence

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Five years ago today, @tom_bernthal and I went on our first date. We hiked the Stanford dish and talked about our families, our hopes, and some of the struggles we had faced; he was not just kind and insightful and funny, but he carried my water bottle the entire time.

So much has changed since then. We are now married, raising our children together, working side by side. But some of what started on that day has continued until now – our love for walking and talking, his kindness and insight, his ability to make me laugh. He carried my water bottle then, and now I so often feel like he is carrying me.

Tom – I could not be more grateful for the life we have built together and I could not love you more.

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Two years ago today. And I thought I loved you then….
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Vice President @kamalaharris has already made history once — becoming the first Black and South Asian woman to hold her office, and she will do it again in November. She is an accomplished leader, a fierce advocate of abortion rights, and the strongest candidate to lead our country forward.

I was just with Vice President Harris at the @whitehouse for a screening of @screamsbeforesilence, where she stood firmly against conflict-related sexual violence in all its forms. She will defend women’s rights — and all Americans’ rights — from the Oval Office with a determined, compassionate focus.

I’m thrilled to support her.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Tonight, our family lit our menorah to mark the first night of Hanukkah — joining Jews worldwide in this 2,000-year tradition.

The story of Hanukkah is one of hope. It’s about the triumph of light over darkness. And it reminds us of the persistence of faith — a community surviving centuries of persecution without losing our shared identity. As we said the blessings tonight, I felt a deep connection to Jews across the globe who have persevered for centuries to continue celebrating our faith.

Around the world, billions of others are also celebrating Christmas today and the values it represents: kindness, empathy, and peace and good will to all. It’s fitting that Christmas and Hanukkah fall on the same day this year. It’s a reminder of our common humanity, showing that we all seek hope, love, and compassion.

May all of us, from every background and faith, find light in our lives and work together for enduring peace. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Rachel Goldberg-Polin and Jon Polin joined us at the Congressional screening of @screamsbeforesilence. They are two of the strongest people I’ve ever met. On October 7th, their son Hersh was one of the 240 people taken hostage by Hamas. Hersh’s arm was blown off in the attack, and he is still being held captive today. For the last 230 days, Rachel and Jon have been working tirelessly to bring Hersh and all of the remaining hostages — which include Americans and citizens from 24 countries — home.

As a mother, my heart breaks for them and the families of all of the hostages. The depth of their pain is unimaginable. Their profound strength, empathy, and willingness to share their anguish with the world is remarkable. They are true heroes.

We must do all that we can to #BringThemHome. @bring.hersh.home
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Bam. That is how it is done. I can’t wait for your inaugural speech, soon-to-be Madam President.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It’s a chance to honor the 6 million people who were murdered just for being Jewish, and the 5 million more who were killed for who they were. And it’s an opportunity to recognize the courage of those who sacrificed their lives to save others.

For me and so many other Jews, Yom HaShoah is deeply personal. We carry the stories of those who survived and those who didn’t. Growing up, I heard how my great-great-grandmother Chana Bassa left her home in Lithuania to escape persecution. If she hadn't taken that difficult journey, my family would've almost certainly died in the Nazi concentration camps. @tom_bernthal's great grandfather had relatives who were sent to be murdered in Auschwitz and other camps. Some managed to escape to France — only to be caught there and sent to their deaths in occupied Poland.

Before October 7th, this dark history felt distant, but now it feels closer than ever. The lives lost. The families torn apart. The innocent people who remain hostages. The disturbing rise in antisemitism. It’s so important that we remember each Holocaust survivor and each victim — their light reminds all of us to stand against the darkness we face now.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Proud Swiftie every day - but especially today
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - On the final night of Hanukkah, I’m lighting the last candle for the women and girls who were brutally raped and murdered by Hamas on October 7.

My heart breaks for them and for what they experienced in the very last moments of their lives.

We must stand #UnitedAgainstRape in every country, be it in times of war or peace.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - With deep sadness, I am honoring the life of my friend @susanwojcicki.

When I joined Google, Susan was one of the very first people I met. She taught me the business and helped me navigate a growing, fairly chaotic organization at the beginning of my career in tech. She was the person I turned to for advice over and over again. And she was this person for so many others too.

As one of the most important women leaders in tech — the first to lead a major company — she was committed to expanding opportunities for women throughout Silicon Valley. I don’t believe my career would be what is today without her unwavering support.

I will remember Susan’s brilliance, kindness, and visionary leadership. And I will be forever grateful for her guidance, and most importantly, her friendship. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Had the best time with my daughter and friends at @oliviarodrigo’s concert last night!

Not only is Olivia a phenomenal artist, but she’s a powerful voice in the fight for abortion rights. Standing up for what you believe in takes Guts, and her Fund 4 Good will help women access reproductive health care.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Tonight, Tom, our children, and I lit our menorah for the first night of Hanukkah. As we said the blessing, I was overwhelmed by a deep sense of connection to Jewish people around the world — our collective strength, shared anguish, and unwavering resilience.

For over 2,000 years, Jews have celebrated the Festival of Lights to remember the powerful story of the Maccabees. When the Maccabees sought to rededicate the destroyed Temple, they found a flask with only enough oil to light one candle for one night. And yet, miraculously, it lasted for eight full nights.

Hanukkah is about the triumph of light. It reminds us that even in the hardest times, we have one another and there is always hope. Amid a difficult year marked by immense violence and hate, this feels more important than ever.

May all of us, from all backgrounds and faiths, find light in our lives — and may our prayers for peace be answered.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - This piece is definitive and heartbreaking. No one can deny the sexual violence of Oct 7 and humanity demands that we all stand together against terrorists and terrorism.

Thank you to @gettlemanjeffrey, @anatschwartz and Adam Sella for relentless dedication, meticulous journalism, and for bringing the truth to light.

#unitedagainstrape
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - In @time, the brilliant @noahrfeldman takes a sweeping look at antisemitism — the history, its impact, and why we must all work to combat it.

Noah describes the ways antisemitic discourse has reinvented itself through generations. He explains why today’s antisemitic lies — rooted in the false idea that Jews are not a historically oppressed group — are so damaging and dangerous. And he reminds us that antisemitism can be overcome if we “self-examine our impulses, our stories about power and injustice, and our beliefs.”

With the frightening rise in antisemitism in our country and around the world, this piece is more important than ever. I hope you read it.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Nine years ago today, we lost Dave. Those of us closest to him miss him deeply, especially on days like today, and we’re doing all we can to carry on his legacy.

Dave was one of the most incredible people I’ve ever known. He touched the lives of so many as a friend and mentor. He was always generous with his time, advice, and support. And he believed every child should have the opportunity to learn and excel. When Paula, @iamrobgoldberg, and I created the Dave Goldberg Scholarship program, we knew it had to be more than just financial assistance. We wanted to provide these exceptional students with a big-hearted community and wrap-around support through every stage of college and beyond. I’m so proud of all these bright young students have accomplished: 97% of our first class of Goldberg Scholars have graduated and are now employed or in grad school.

Today, @tom_bernthal, @iamrobgoldberg, and I are honored to introduce the seventh class of Goldberg Scholars. We’ll have 15 students from @kippschools and 15 students from @peninsulabridge. They each embody Dave’s best qualities: leadership, character, achievement, and an entrepreneurial spirit. And many will be the first in their family to go to college.

Mahnaz is a political asylum refugee who wants to create educational opportunities for women, having grown up witnessing girls be denied the chance to learn. Alejandro is a passionate advocate for increased support for neurodivergent, low-income students to succeed in local schools. Flory uses engineering to reduce levels of pollutants in low-income communities and already worked with her mayor to enhance local train lines to improve air quality. These are just a few of the amazing new class of scholars.

I believe with all my heart that the Goldberg Scholars are the diverse leaders the world needs to effect change. And I know Dave would believe that too.

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - In Hostage Square, grief, strength, and hope all coexist. Day and night, people gather there to pray, light candles, and demand the safe return of the hostages Hamas abducted on October 7.

Walking through the Square with my parents is an experience I’ll never forget. There’s a billboard showing how many days, hours, and seconds hostages have been held. And a Shabbat table surrounded by empty chairs — each chair representing a person who is still living in captivity.

The horror hostages are experiencing at the hands of Hamas cannot be overstated. And the daily reality their loved ones are facing is difficult to comprehend. We must #bringthemhome.

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - I’m devastated by Hamas’ murder of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages.

Hersh’s parents, Rachel and Jon, are some of the most extraordinary people I have ever met. Their love for Hersh inspired the world, and they never gave up hope. My heart breaks for them today, and for every family impacted by Hamas’ terror.

I continue to pray for the safe release of the remaining hostages so they can be reunited with their families.

May Hersh, Ori, Eden, Almog, Alexander, and Carmel’s memories be a blessing. May their loved ones know they are not alone.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - As we head into the new year, I’m praying for peace.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - 456 Days. That’s how long Liri Albag has been held captive by Hamas.

Just 19 years old, the horror Liri is experiencing at the hands of Hamas cannot be overstated. And the daily reality her loved ones are facing is difficult to comprehend.

We have not forgotten them. I pray every day for the safe return of Liri and all of the hostages. We must do all that we can to #BringThemHome.

Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Thank you @unwomen for speaking out and calling for a rigorous investigation into the crimes committed against women on Oct. 7.
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Hamas must be held fully accountable for the horrific crimes they committed on Oct. 7.

Sexual violence is torture. It’s terror. And it has no place in peace or in war. #unitedagainstrape
Sheryl Sandberg Instagram - Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day!

And to Tom, thank you for every adventure, every quiet moment, every laugh, and every kiss. Thank you for your steadfast support which enables me to keep going. As the months turn into years, I fall more and more in love with you.
Sheryl Sandberg - 20.8K Likes - With a heart filled with gratitude and a mind filled with memories, I let the @meta board know that I will not stand for reelection this May.

Sheryl Sandberg - 14.4K Likes - The last five days have been among the most emotional of my life.

Sheryl Sandberg - 8.1K Likes - Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

And he reminds us that antisemitism can be overcome if we “self-examine our impulses, our stories about power and injustice, and our beliefs.” With the frightening rise in antisemitism in our country and around the world, this piece is more important than ever. I hope you read it.

Sheryl Sandberg - 5.8K Likes - Nine years ago today, we lost Dave.

Sheryl Sandberg - 5.5K Likes - In Hostage Square, grief, strength, and hope all coexist.

Sheryl Sandberg - 5K Likes - I’m devastated by Hamas’ murder of Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages.

We have not forgotten them. I pray every day for the safe return of Liri and all of the hostages. We must do all that we can to #BringThemHome.
