Birthday pics from years past. Thanks to all the friends, family and fans who sent such kind wishes. This has been a hell of a year, can 2024/25 get better? I sure as sh*t hope so! Usually I try to share some wisdom from the year that I’ve gleaned but I’m a little numb from the last 5 weeks. My kid came home. Joyous doesn’t begin to describe how that feels. So grateful. On the flip side I lost a friend very suddenly which reminded me how precious life is and how we take our relationships for granted. All of them. My Yoda, the man who taught me how to live my life for the last 32 plus years and be a functioning member of society is in the hospital and could use some collective good mojo thrown out into the universe in his direction. If you feel so inclined send some love in my friend Jim’s direction. Life is fired at point blank range. It turns on a dime in milliseconds. Learning to be grateful for what we have, growing comfortable with navigating the unknown (which is ALL of life btw), becoming fearless in all things, while at the same time being of maximum use to others is what it’s all about. Stay awesome everyone.
Father’s Day is never without its bag of mixed emotions. I lost my dads and think of them every day. I love them. I hope my son feels the same about me and that I live up to the example my fathers gave me. Parenting is hard. There’s no manual. You do it from feel, by touch, not by reading a book. I love my son more than anything else in my life and I never let a day go by without letting him know it. For those who struggle with these kinds of days, please please please pick up the phone and talk to someone. Let somebody in.

Jambon persillé but make it pasta! On Substack this week, I showed my step by step process to create this delicious pasta salad including a homemade tarragon mayo, crispy fried leeks, and a trick to quickly defrost frozen peas. For the full recipe and video, subscribe to Spilled Milk at the link in my bio.
What if you made shrimp scampi… And then stuffed it in a torpedo roll, topped it with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and drizzled it with a zesty remoulade sauce? That’s my Garlic Butter Shrimp Po’ Boy made with my @badiaspices Lemon & Shallots Seasoning. Don’t sleep on this one! Even if downing this massive sandwich creates some serious nap time. My suggestion is sharing. Pick up my entire Badia Spice line at at your local @krogerco, on andrewzimmern.com/spices, or on bodega.badiaspices.com. Full recipe is at the link in my bio, PLEASE try this one at home and tag me in the posts!

@lucathelogotto with his sister Clemmie and brother Moe #dogs #dogsofinstagram Family portrait … what’s your dogs name and breed? These three are Lagotto Romagnolos, from the marshlands of the Delta del Po in the eastern part of the Romagna sub-region of Italy. The name derives from the term “lagotto” which is the name of the inhabitants of the local town of Lagosanto. Another theory believes it comes instead from Romagnol can lagòt, meaning “water dog”. Its traditional function was as a gun dog, specifically a water retriever; since the drainage of large areas of wetland habitat in its area of origin, they are now most famously used to hunt for truffles.

This is one of my favorite ways to cook and eat broccoli rabe — charred on the grill and served with a simple pasta seasoned with garlic and olive oil. Visit the link in my bio for the complete recipe, including the lemony breadcrumb topping!
