Hanging with Coach Downer (@acesbasketball), you all know Kobe Bryant is my muse and my guy forever ♾️. One day, I was doing some influencer/mascot work with @premierleague for @wolves. While we were working, I told one of my business partners, “Let’s go check out Lower Merion because every time I’m out here, I visit the place.”
As I was driving and listening to “Loyal to the Game” by 2pac, Treach and Riddle, I saw Coach Downer walking across the street towards the football fields. It was magical, like a scene from Alice in Wonderland when the bunny appears and no one else sees it, but it’s calling you. I told my friend, “That’s KOBE’S COACH! I have to meet him and talk to him.”
I found him on the football field, training a high school student who was preparing for the Navy. I introduced myself to Coach Downer, and he welcomed me to help him train. Afterward, he took me on a tour of Lower Merion High School, which was magical. He shared stories about Kobe that only he knew and educated me about the team’s history.
