Brian Michael Smith Instagram – “The purpose of art is to provoke thought. To get you to see things, to question ideas, make up an idea, getting to see what is your voice and how you feel about something. And if it’s something that’s not comfortable, wait – how do you feel about it? Talk about it, let’s have a dialogue. That’s how we connect as people with the world around us. So, to try and make things more palatable and not talk about it, that’s the antithesis of what we do in the first place.” – Me
Earlier this month I got to join the #ATXTVFestival for their 12th year, and be a part of the “Queer We Want to See,” panel. It was a great way to kick off #Pride & discuss how the LGBTQIA community is being represented in TV and film.
We have to keep going. Something that may be uncomfortable for one person to discuss because they’re not used to it, may save someone else. Talk about things that are uncomfortable, have dialogue, connect!
Thanks for having me @atxfestival 🫶🏽 and shoutout to this amazing, unapologetically authentic panelists @caitlinstasey @thejerriejohnson @ihatejoelkim & our moderator Mo Ryan! 👏🏽
