Safety for dragqueens on the road has been a big and long lasting issue. I stopped counting the amount of times taxidrivers have refused to serve me based on how I present myself, often leaving me behind vulnerable in the streets at night. Unfortunately this is so common among queens, performers and queer peers in general, that it has unfortunately become almost normalised.
@dragsofanarchy said ‘enough!’ and publicly reached out for help. @autonl immediately rose to the occasion and provided us with a fabulous car. The car is wrapped in a beautiful print including silhouettes of the queens, making an ‘equal rides’ statement as the first ‘Draxi’!
We’d like to express our gratitude to @dragsofanarchy and @autonl for helping to make our transport to shows feel so much safer. This is a beautiful statement showing us that queer lives matter.
