David Holmes Instagram – The architecture of airports is always interesting. They are buildings of Cummings and goings ,sad goodbyes and happy reunions. It’s always a mishmash of energies and emotions . transitioning through them is normally sensory overload. I find it refreshing when you find an empty airport that is not bombarding you with strong smells bright lights and uncomfortable seating.
I’m just leaving a holiday about to fly home to attend an award ceremony something I would not be doing if it wasn’t firstly for the NHS who saved my life 15 years ago when I broke my neck then secondly my dedicated family friends and caregivers who continued to support me every day.
Finally, I have to be thankful for everybody involved in my documentary “David Holmes the boy who lived “it has been in the world since November last year and there is not a single day since it’s been released that I have not received a message from someone across Social media.
I can wholeheartedly say not one message has been negative. Sharing my life has left positive impact for whoever has spent 90 minutes with me on screen.
Thankfully, my legacy on film is not me
Hitting that wall and breaking my neck 15 years ago. My legacy is my life, the way I choose to live and I want to do. One thing is for sure I am very thankful to still be alive.
Maybe next time I get on an aeroplane, I have a slightly heavy award in my hand luggage and if not it doesn’t matter because I’ll be drinking the free champagne regardless.
