I dreamt of a kitchen that was connected to nature. By principle, practice, stewardship and recognition. High aspirations for a cook and right on point. The studio kitchen is the @montanamex food lab, studio set and family kitchen. The center of our home and a celebratory place to applaud, concoct and co create with nature. Of course through taste but also through the innumerable other ways we feel, experience and connect to the world around us. In my live cooking series theres a high chance nature will find its way into our kitchen time. By design and special appearances. First person to positively ID this raptor in the comments will receive an invite and cooking kit to the next live cooking class May 21st. I am teaching Crêpes and hope to see you there. Tickets and info at link in my bio 💙⚡️👨🏽🍳

One year without our girl. Hurts just as much as it did then and yet each memory of her makes me smile as I am reminded that teardrops grow the seeds of the future 🐕 . @beccaskinner

One thing we love about @oldsaltfestival is the opportunity it creates to connect with the people who are growing and raising our food and to build relationship with the land that it’s grown on. The 2nd Annual Old Salt Festival, taking place on the @mannixbeef ranch in Helmville, Montana, June 21-23, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the world of nutrient-dense foods through direct engagement with the land and its stewards. This event is not just about enjoying heritage cuisine; it’s an immersive experience where attendees can connect with farmers and thought leaders, discussing the science behind regenerative practices that enrich our meals and health. That being said, there will incredible food, music, makers, and speakers, collaborating to make this weekend a celebration! Come find us there! Use the code AMT15 to for a discount on tickets! @chefeduardogarcia’s favorite meal? He LOVES a good salad. Crunchy. Soft. Herbaceous. Bright. Warm. Cold. Light. Dense. Layered with animal or plant-based proteins. Salads just might be the most versatile food group we have, but they rarely get the recognition that they deserve. And so, the next iteration of our Hungry Life Live Series is a pure and bountiful celebration of summer salads. Coming to you straight from the source: we’ll be streaming live from the garden on August 13th! Scratch everything you think you know about salads. We’re here to bust the myth, raise the curtain, open up the pantry and get into the garden to show you all that they can be! We’ll be preparing three unique recipes: a classic leafy caesar, a hearty grain bulgar salad, and a roasted beet and carrot salad. And through these dishes, you’ll learn the basics of centuries old techniques like coal roasting, emulsification, and preparing labneh – a strained farmer’s cheese. Your ticket price includes a curated bundle of items from Montana Mex, Durant Olive Mills, and Highland Harmony Farms, Grotto Meats, and for the first 20 orders…a Zoid Travel Accessory Set from MYSTERY RANCH! That’s over $60 in value! AND to make the deal even sweeter, a portion of all proceeds from this class goes directly to Audubon to support their work conserving and restoring natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and their habitats, for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity. So come hungry, because these are so much more than your typical salad!

Snip, snip, snip, the dutiful blades of a sharp set of shears seduced me out of a blissful morning sipping coffee in the garden or our bnb. Naturally my curiosity did its thing and my feet followed as they always do. My morning went 2X with unexpected and welcome conversation. A tree trimming lesson turned into a hour long hang out. I offered a hot coffee which most laborers universally will accept gratefully. We covered mushroom foraging, bears, hornets and other wild betta points. He offered to take us hiking if we had a few days. Maybe next time I’ll leave more open space for the unknown. This time around, it was the perfect cut of culture and no frills humanity I’ve come to find wherever a humble heart and smiling presence collide. Arigato kind sir. I’ll see you on the mountain one day no doubt. 🏔️
I learned how to fly fish out of this bus and I still love taking it out to check the water and see what’s happening. I am pleasantly reminded each time I go out how just a little trip to the lake with the puppy is such a boost to my mood and sense of well being. And of course there’s puppies! Bluegrass reminds me to slow down and make time to play. Cheers to @orvis for equipping me with functional and ecologically minded options when out on many a foray and trout taco mission. #partner @orvis

PODCAST Chef, Educator, Storyteller & Food Ambassador- Eduardo Garcia of Montana Mex – EPISODE 45 Chef Eduardo Garcia is a chef and avid outdoorsman driven by wild curiosity and a deep love of food and landscape. For Chef Eduardo Garcia, meals are meant to be shared. Food and cooking have served to connect with others in meaningful ways: taking him around the world as a yacht Chef, motivational speaker, and big-screen storyteller as the host of the James Beard Award-winning Big Sky Kitchen on the Magnolia Network. His appetite for exploration has taken him on a journey from chef to grower, and he and his family now run a small regenerative farm, with the simple goal to unite others through curiosity, education, and cuisine. His work in food is most readily eaten and experienced via the handful of products and recipes available through his purpose-driven brand: Montana Mex. “WHAT I DO, WHO I AM — IT ALL TIES INTO FOOD. FOOD IS ELEMENTAL. IT’S LIKE AIR, WATER, SHELTER. WITH LUCK, AND HARD WORK, WE MAY GET TO EAT FOOD EVERY DAY — AND HOPEFULLY, TO ENJOY IT. TO SAVOR IT. I’VE COME TO UNDERSTAND AND RESPECT FOOD AS A POWERFUL FORCE THAT CONNECTS US TO EACH OTHER, OUR ENVIRONMENT, AND TO OURSELVES.” -Eduardo Garcia It was an honor to sit down with Eduardo and record this podcast on location in Montana after following his work five years ago. Thank you to everyone at @montanamex for their support. 📷 Credit: @lindseymulcare #newpodcastalert #podcastrecommendation #montanamex #foodoriginspodcast
