Born in Seoul, South Korea, Lee’s parents immigrated to midwestern America when he was in elementary school. Knowing no English, he identified with Superman — the ultimate immigrant. That turned into a passion for drawing comics, as he found solace in building worlds for characters who, like him, had multiple identities and didn’t quite fit in.
