What do the people want? Liminal spaces and mazes that articulate a frustration with bureaucracy! When do they want it? Now!! (( @problemista is in theaters nationwide))
In ‘Fantasmas,’ Julio Torres (@spaceprincejulio) and Martine (@martine.tv) paint a surrealist dream that’s grounded in friendship. Just don’t ask them how they met—they have no idea. (“The answer is ‘yes,’” Torres jokes.) At the link in bio, the creative duo discuss creating the madcap @hbo series, that Dylan O’Brien lingerie scene, and the potential for a second season. – Photography: @arnold_daniel Styling: @dara._ Writer: @kylemunz Hair: @sonnymolinahair Makeup: Maya Fagina Fashion assistant: @fern.ando Props master: @kaykasparhauser

A few Problemista-coded still lives that revealed themselves to me recently while promoting the film. If you zoom into the brush in the first one you will see strands of hair from generations of Telemundo anchors. Their hopes and dreams. Their loss and pain. Their victories big and small. I’m currently using some of the strands to clone and create the ultimate Telemundo anchor. The second one is from an employee training room at an AMC. The bright yellow paint and fake plants were surely an attempt to bring joy into the space. Perhaps by someone who is no longer works there, but will be fondly remembered. The last felt obvious at first—an elderly person had recently died, now their belongings are in the trash… but then it felt too obvious. Almost staged. Maybe someone wanted to communicate “it’s too late, she’s gone” …when actually it’s a “turn back and go away. Don’t bother,” misleading the estranged son to get back in the car and drive away.
