Hi friends, so we were between show days, and chose to spend our day off in Memphis, Tennessee. The city is overflowing with music mojo, and I am always inspired when I find, “my feet ten feet off of Beale”. Beale Street in Memphis is home to several historic blues clubs, and my favorite Elvis statue, but on this day I met a young rapper in front of the hotel which is on the west end of Beale. I was on my way out for bus call, when this enormous dude, dressed to kill, a big ole smile on his face, and surrounded by his impressive posse approached me. It always feels good when a younger artist shares their stories of what my music meant to them. @yunggravy is young, and very tall, (he is reportedly the tallest rapper, ever!). So ask your kids about Yung Gravy, and share what you hear back here in the comments! I’m curious. Okay, that’s all for now … onward and upward, kc PS. That brace on my left hand was due to an over-zealous day of playing the guitar part for the new song that I wrote with my long-time friend, Richard Marx. I played it so much that I ended up with a touch of tendinitis. Richard and I have been buds since Richard’s first tour, when he was our special guest on the Life as we Know It tour, in 1987. We have done numerous charity concerts, Richard produced a song I performed for the movie “Sing”, but we had never written together … until now! We both agree that this song is up there with our best work. More on that to come …

Hi friends, So, everywhere I look these days I see trains … freight trains, passenger trains, and starting the week of July 8, my new favorite band @Train in Somerset, WI on 7-8, Indianapolis on 7-10, Cincinnati on 7-12, and on 7-13, my sweet hometown Chicago, just a few miles from where I grew up, down the road from Oak Lawn, in Tinley Park! Our Summer Road Trip tour is getting off to a roaring start, in the heart of REO Country. I feel so strongly that fans of Train will dig the REO setlist, and same for the REO fans being wowed by great playing by the Train band and the amazing voice of my buddy Patrick Monahan. REO is currently spending the month of June with our old friends, special guests @NightRanger and @levonthemusic. I am grateful to be sharing the stage with bands whose music we love, and who we love personally. At this point in my life, I want to surround myself with nice solid people, no tour drama, and good fun … that is how we roll. We have a night off in St Louis, and tour manager Ken Denson has planned a full-band outing to see the Cardinals play a home game at beautiful Busch Stadium. All six of us will be indulging in plenty of peanuts and Crackers Jacks tomorrow night! Some of you may remember the awesome multi-band shows that REO headlined at Busch Stadium in 1978 and ‘82. I would love to hear your memories of those shows in the comments section here, as my memories of those concerts almost seem surreal! I need you to remind me that it all actually happened! I look forward to seeing you at one of the final three June shows, in Evansville, Indiana and Decatur, Illinois on Tuesday and Wednesday … and next Friday on the BMO Stage at Summerfest in the great city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rock on, and look out for oncoming Trains! … kc PS. My feet will undoubtedly take me on my usual hike to the St Louis Arch this afternoon. It is a beautiful Midwest day here … actually I am gonna head out as soon as I press send! PPPS. The city of St Louis, its people, and KSHE radio, have meant so much to me and my music. I love it here, and can’t wait for the Summer Road Tour to roll into the Riverport Amphitheater on July 16! See you guys there! kc

hi friends, okay, our June tour was a stone blast! We hit a bunch of our fav towns with 2 of our fav bands, and ended up with a record breaking crowd at Summerfest in Milwaukee. The energy of that Wisconsin audience, combined with perhaps our strongest performance of the year, all built up as the set continued and crescendoed with an explosion of Midwest, REO style rock and roll. The people of Wisconsin have supported REO since our bar band days. Summerfest has become our home away from home, (this was our 14th time playing the festival!). So thank you to all the Wisconsinites/Cheeseheads who have been there for us through the years. And in particular one very special lady from Racine, the former Lisa Wells, now Lisa Wells-Cronin. As I said from the stage: I am a Cheesehead by marriage! I could not love my Wisconsin wife more. So June began with a run of dates with @NightRanger. Those guys have kept the bar high, and keep get better every time we tour together. I love when our special guests are pros, who have been around forever, and are still pushing themselves to new heights. At this point in our careers there are those who choose to become complacent and rest on their past achievements. That attitude does not work for me. Our audiences shell out their hard-earned money for concert tickets, and we owe them our complete and total effort every night. Anything less than our best is simply unacceptable. Then we were reunited with our young, awesome, hard-working friends, @Levonthemusic. If you have not seen them yet, (they have opened some fifty shows for REO over the past six years), you need to check out their music. Their vocal blend is literally CSN level, their songwriting is top-notch, and they are solid dudes through and through. It is just a matter of time until they break through big-time. So now a well-earned week off at home, then we head out with @Train for the Summer Road Trip Tour. Check the schedule for a tour stop near you. Train is not to be missed. Great songs, great playing, and Patrick Monahan is one of the greatest rock singers ever. I can’t wait to share the stage with him. Okay, that’s all for now … onward and upward, kc
