The Israeli military’s attack on Rafah puts 1.3 million Palestinians taking refuge — including 600,000 children— in catastrophic danger. We need a permanent ceasefire NOW— not a pause or temporary ceasefire. The killing must stop! There is nothing that justifies the killing of children — in Gaza, or anywhere. President Biden and our elected leaders must act NOW to save lives and move us towards a future rooted in freedom, justice, dignity, and peace for all people. #AllEyesOnRafah #PermanentCeasefireNow #Artists4Ceasefire

Repost from @rescueorg • We are horrified by the news of at least 40 Palestinians killed and dozens injured, including women and children, in an Israeli air strike that hit an area housing displaced people in Rafah, setting tents on fire. This area was a designated safe zone and this event reaffirms our repeated warnings that no place is safe in Gaza. Camps housing displaced people must never be targeted. The IRC urgently calls for Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah, for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and for the release of all hostages. International humanitarian law must be respected, and civilians must be protected. It is imperative that all parties uphold their humanitarian obligations. #AllEyesonRafah

Join me for a reading of my new work: The Unexpected Third at Cleveland Playhouse @playhousesquare this June 22 at 7:30pm directed by the great Timothy Near. LINK TO TKTS IN BIO – share with your Cleveland OH friends. Looking forward to it! “Deep into her third and final act of being human, Kathryn Grody investigates an eclectic, devastating, and hilarious potpourri of shocking discoveries. At 75, she finds herself becoming not quite old, but definitely an elder. Another “Baby Boomer” that didn’t think the aging process would apply to her, Kathryn enters elderhood with equal parts empowerment and utter bewilderment. Marching onward through crumbling democracy, a boiling planet, and a growing roster of friends and colleagues whom have passed away, she is buoyed by discovering parts of herself she didn’t know were in hiding, waiting for this period to bloom. Mother, wife, grandmother, friend, artist, and accidental influencer, Kathryn Grody is astonished with her life, your life, and the stunning, deeply felt, heart-breaking impermanence of it all.”

We visited our pal Elliot @crystal__guardian in Kingston, NY to get fit for custom earplugs! Link in our bio. Crystal Guardian is an independent custom earplug lab with a strong emphasis on hearing health and accessibility for musicians, DJs, club/concert-goers and workers. Their silicone earplugs house interchangeable musician-quality filters which reduce volume while preserving the music’s fidelity. Crystal Guardian has been credited for bringing “glitter-filled custom silicone creations into the heart of New York’s nightlife community” and is “making wearing earplugs to the club, dare we say it, cool.” 10-15% of the world’s adult population suffers from tinnitus. This figure is significantly higher (40-50%) for those who work in the music industry. Crystal Guardian advocates for general hearing protection use in loud environments, limiting concert/club loudness to help keep audience members safe and education around all things ears! Protect your passion. Practice safe sound! Repost from @moveon The ONLY way to squash Project 2025, Trump’s plan for a MAGA America, is to defeat Trump in November. We have to get it done.

Repost from @impact • The number of displaced people in the world has reached a record-high—but who are they? ➡️ Swipe to see our breakdown of who they are, where they come from, and what they face. It’s now as critical as ever that the world steps up to support people who have been displaced by conflict and crisis. Visit Rescue.org/WorldRefugeeDay at the link in our bio to learn about how you can take action today.
Repost from @rescueorg “To see the humanity in each other is the most powerful thing we can do. Once we’ve shared that, you can’t look away.” For many displaced people, reaching Europe is far from the end of their struggles. Those fleeing conflict and crisis can be stuck in limbo for weeks, months or even years, struggling to access safe accommodation and other vital support. Women and children also face increased risks of violence and exploitation while on the move. In Trieste – an important arrival point for refugees in Italy – the International Rescue Committee (IRC) runs a daytime Safe Space for women and children, as well as working with local partners to deliver a range of other services. Actor and IRC Ambassador Adjoa Andoh – who stars in a new series of Bridgerton this week – visited the IRC’s programmes in Trieste to learn more. #Bridgerton #LadyDanbury
Video reposted from @suleikajaouad 5/20/21 you can watch the full vide on on Suleika’s page. Today is the anniversary of Quintin Jones execution by the state of Texas. He was a deeply beautiful and generous person. So many joined in a fight to save Quentin’s life. He had a deeply troubled begining and grew to be a thoughtful, kind, giving and sensitive human being. Some of Quintin’s last words were “Keep doing the good work.” We believe the death penalty is inhuman madness full stop. Other countries around the world have abolished this barbaric practice and we believe the US can do the same. Join us in fighting the death penalty by exploring some of these petitions and direct actions from @deathpenaltyaction at the link in our bio. We were introduced to Quintin by our friend, the brilliant writer @suleikajaouad, after they developed a deep friendship through letters and then spending time with each other. The outpouring of support for Quintin deeply moved and inspired us and continues to do so to this day. Thanks again to everyone who lent their time towards trying to help him. Today, and all days, we are thinking about Quintin, about his family and friends that advocated for him and loved him and all the people he connected with and brought joy to.

We’re sounding the alarm again now as the country faces a potentially historic humanitarian catastrophe. To learn more, visit Rescue.org/Sudan
