I’m one of the cast members who really grew up in what they call ‘the hood’. It’s funny because growing up, it was just ‘home’ to me, and thanks to my family’s love and keeping me safe, I never felt like it was dangerous. However, I did get to see a lot of kids go down the wrong paths in life due to various reasons. Some lacked a good support system at home, so they were influenced by the wrong people, while others were actually able to rise above all the peer pressure and distractions and follow their dreams, accomplishing their life goals. So, I’m honored to represent the black men who grow up on the Westside or Southside, who overcame obstacles, bypassed bad influences, and found their light in a dark tunnel.”
