Michael Kiwanuka Instagram – This picture was taken at one of the first times I got to support Alabama shakes back in 2012. It’s of myself, Brittany and the legend that is Bill Withers!!!! 😭😭😭😭. I’d just started playing my first album live in America which was in itself a dream come true. Listening to Brittany sing every night was a dream. And then out of the blue, just after I’d finished singing and Brittany was getting ready to go on. The man himself, Mr Bill Withers walks back stage and we get to talk hear the funniest stories about music, his band, England. I remember he just had everyone laughing out loud the whole time. We were in awe at being in the presence of in my opinion one of the greatest songwriters of all time. I knew hearing Brittany each night that we were hearing one of the best voices about to emerge. I was so inspired. It feels awesome to be able to get back on the road with Brittany. The world has lost Bill in the flesh but we still have his music. Can’t wait for these shows and I know we can create something special! Get y’all your tickets.
