31 years ago this summer in 1993 in OKC, I had just turned 16 and this contest changed my life… I drove halfway across country with a bunch of guys called the POW’s, which stood for pros of Westminster. 7 or 8 guys in a minivan with all our gear and bikes inside, it was a tight fit. We slept under and on the ramps for a couple weeks before the contest with a few nights of hotels… ultimately being a few weeks that would shape the next 30 years. These 2 dudes I spent the most time riding with in the 90’s – we all came up at the same time …. Pretty cool to all be back together in one place again – most of you know @briancastillo and the other guy is MIKE OCOBOC – also known as “the Boy” – in the 90’s he was one of the best riders around, also the youngest. Mike and I both had backyard ramps which we all rode a Ton, most of these photos are from are yards. Mike quit being pro and moved on to being a digital compositer for movies and has worked on all the biggest ones – planet of the apes, the hobbit and so on.. he also lives in NEW ZEALAND for at least a decade… so getting together is far and few between. This was the first time Brian had seen him in almost 30 years … Mike and I spent the last few years of the 90’s snowboarding a lot and have kept in touch the whole time… he was truly a pioneer in Bmx and is responsible for many trick first and trends back then… it was awesome to all be back together #bmx #betheadventure thx to @marklosey for documenting basically our whole lives … all photos from Mark.

Congrats to all the competitors and winners this weekend at @xgames stoked to see them all have a place to compete in the summer again. Here’s a shot of me from I think 2007 or 08 mega ramp X games at the staple center. in 2005 Bmx was not allowed in mega ramp at the time. @xgames gave me an opportunity to break the backflip world record behind closed doors with no crowd. I broke the current world record at the time and set the 360 world record.. the following year Bmx was invited to be part of the mega ramp spectacle. And the rest was history.. to see the level of riding progress from that time is nuts.. dudes like @chadkagy @anthonynapo @krobbmx and @texasmwade @bmxzack really pushed the limits. Then there was @rwilly who came out of nowhere and redefined the capabilities of what a bike rider was capable of. Throwback to a quick grind for an interview for BMX ACTION.. always loved this photo , not many saw it … between the potential BASE jump and incoming traffic it was just a few tries to get one where I sat into it good and got the right body position… I guess I need to eat some of my own words about shooting photos on low ledges… my bad #betheadventure #bmx
