Boarding a flight at DFW. Just saw this on a monitor. Airports are funny places…
Before I remind you all once again, and probably for the last time, that July 4th is the last day to catch Something to Stand For in a theater, I want to close the loop on a problem that several of you have brought to my attention, regarding a handful of theaters that canceled the movie without first notifying those who had already purchased a ticket. Here’s what happened. In late May, shortly after I encouraged people to buy a ticket in advance, several theaters pulled out. I don’t know how many, and I don’t know why. All I know for sure, is the theaters are supposed to contact the intermediary who sells the tickets to the consumer—in this case, Fandango. Fandango is then supposed to alert the consumer and facilitate the refund. Well, I’ve been hearing stories from people who drove across town with their families a few weeks after buying a ticket, to see a movie that wasn’t playing. That’s really unfortunate, and I want to apologize to everyone who was inconvenienced. Equally unfortunate, is the fact that some of those same people have had trouble getting a refund, while others said they got a refund for their tickets but could not get a refund for the “convenience fee” charged by Fandango to facilitate the original transaction. I’m still not sure why this happened, but it’s completely unacceptable. Today, I learned from the distributor, Fathom Events, that Fandango is now in the process of reaching out directly to customers who were impacted. If you are such a customer, expect to be contacted shortly. If you’re not contacted by the end of this week, let me know, and I’ll do whatever I need to do to get it resolved. On a more positive note, the people who have seen Something to Stand For, absolutely love it. The film has been reviewed nearly 500 times on Rotten Tomatoes and still has a 98% audience rating. It’s been a privilege to tell the stories of men and women I genuinely admire. I’m proud of the film and think you and your family will love it. Thanks, and Happy Independence Day. PS. Link in bio to see an accurate listing of all the theaters airing the film tomorrow. PPS. For what it’s worth, Freddy gave it two paws up…
Can you imagine hearing a joke like this on a kid’s show, back in the 80s? 😆 From Dirty Jobs to dirty jokes, Mike Rowe made waves on Sesame Street and had tons of hate mail to prove it! Tune in on your favorite podcasting platform!🎙️ #dirtyjobs #dirtyjokes #sesamestreetmemes
First of all, I want to thank everyone for your enduring patience as I continue to relentlessly plug the release of Something to Stand For, my shamelessly patriotic love-letter to America that appears in theaters nationwide today. I wanted to do something special for Independence Day, and this is it. Unfortunately, I suspect that many of you will be wondering if there’s anything left to stand for after today’s debate, which just happens to coincide with the release of this film. Like you, I’m exhausted by the whole Bread and Circus dynamic and really wish our media would demand from the candidates a few concrete solutions to the problems vexing so many today. Alas, I doubt that will come to pass. Might I suggest, in the wake of all the angst and foreboding that will surely follow this bit of Kabuki, that you find a theater with the good sense to present my modest little film, and see for yourself the evidence that proves there are still a few things we can all agree are worth standing for? Also, I’d like to thank the hundreds of Marines and Sailors who came out to see an advance screening of Something to Stand For at Camp Pendleton last Monday. I suppose I could have held the premiere in Hollywood or New York, but really – why would I do that? The movie was shot almost entirely in Oklahoma, and features over 300 actors from that great state, all of whom helped me pay an honest tribute to the people who built our country, and to those who defend it today. I can’t imagine a better venue, or a finer audience, than the one I encountered a few days ago. A special thanks to all those who waited in line afterwards to say hello and grab a pic. I’m flattered, and in your debt. As for the rest of you, you know what’s coming next. Go watch the trailer if you haven’t seen it and get your tickets. Our house might be feeling a bit wobbly at the moment, but we’re built on a solid foundation. Link in bio.

Rather than flog my movie, which opened in theaters across the country yesterday to some very kind reviews, I thought I’d share a conversation with my mother, who claims in our most recent podcast that I fed my little brother Tiddlywinks when he was in the crib. I have no conscious memory of ever doing such a thing or the fiasco involving the retrieval of said Tiddlywinks from my brothers diaper. But if my mother said it, it must be true. You may judge her veracity for yourself. Despite the multiple references to Tiddlywinks and poop, far less appalling than the debate last night. Enjoy. PS. In other news, my parents saw “Something to Stand For”, and Mom claimed that she “absolutely loved it.” I suppose, if I’m to accept her Tiddlywinks story as true, I can also believe her 5-Star review of Something to Stand For, which I’m not going to promote in this post. PPS. Mom was also kind enough to provide a quote at the Something to Stand For website, https://bit.ly/3xi9fFq, as did @jaylenosgarage @ofctimallen @garysiniseofficial @adamcarolla and so many other luminaries who share my mother’s elevated cinematic taste. #justsaying Links in bio.
Don’t look now, but @mikeroweworks is about to award $2.4 million in work ethic scholarships to 300 individuals who had the good sense to apply several months ago. That brings us over $11 million of scholarships to help train the next generation of skilled workers. ($11 million!!!) We’re currently contacting this year’s recipients via email, and when we’re finished, I’ll post their names on this page. For now, though, I’m sharing an official press release that should go out later today or tomorrow. I’d be grateful if you guys would share it. I’d be even more grateful if somebody would check it for typos. I’m told that mikeroweWORKS is now the leading scholarship fund of its kind, and that I am the “noisiest” advocate for educational alternatives to a 4-year degree. It would be tragic then, or at least embarrassing and possibly mortifying, for a man in my position to send out a grammatically suspect press release. Thanks, Mike

Dear Hollywood Talent-Agents, Somebody sign this kid to a contract, now. His name is Joshua, and he’s destined to have a career in front of the camera doing…something. As for the rest of you, time is running out. Something to Stand For runs through Independence Day, and offers a fresh look at some real American heroes. After that, it’s back to megaplexes filled with imaginary superheroes, overpriced westerns, and talking minions. Take it from young Joshua. “Something to Stand For is a very emotional movie that will change your life!!!” Link in bio to see where it’s playing.
While I’ve been sincerely flattered by the many kind reviews on this page, and more recently, by the 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, I’m well aware that celebrity endorsements can go a long way in promoting a new film. So, when I saw this nice note from @ofctimallen, my TV Big Brother, I just had to share it. I was humbled to receive such a kind endorsement from such a famous comedian and asked the art department to mockup a poster that featured his quote front and center. But then I saw this, from @garysiniseofficial. Now that’s an endorsement, right? I quickly forwarded Gary’s kind words to the art department, and they mocked up another poster with Gary’s comments front and center. Obviously, I couldn’t share both posters without appearing overly douchey, but I couldn’t decide which one go with – the famous Comedian/TV Star/Movie Star, or the famous TV/Star/Movie Star/Philanthropist? Then I saw this, from the famous country music legend, @johnrichofficial. “A must see?” Honestly, how do I not use a quote like that? The art department sent me another mockup, and as I was contemplating my options, my phone buzzed with an “unidentified caller” from Los Angeles. In my experience, callers who choose not to identify themselves are usually hoping to sell me an extended warranty on a car I no longer own, or a new roof for a house that doesn’t need one. But for some reason, I picked up. “Hello?” “Hey Mike! It’s @jaylenosgarage.” “Jay! How are you?” “Great! I’m calling to tell you I loved your movie.” “Really? That’s so great to hear.” “I mean it,” he said. “It’s a little corny, but I like corny. Reminded me of Paul Harvey. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I actually felt something watching a movie. I thought it was terrific.” “That’s very kind of you,” I said. “Can I quote you?” “You’d be a fool not to,” he said. And so, doucheyness notwithstanding, here we have for your consideration not one, but four posters filled with some very kind words from some very famous people I admire about a very unusual movie. Which is a long way of saying, share your favorite poster, or all four. Then, get your tickets. Link in bio.
