If you’re planning a trip to Cape Town (which is absolutely my new favourite city) spending a few nights in Stellenbosch is essential. It’s only 45 minutes down the road and you’ll be greeted with dramatic landscapes, mountains and stunning wineries. We stayed in a converted container plonked on the back of a winery. There was a pool for cold plunges in the morning and a braai for steaks at night. A very special few days celebrating @dmckay89 & @chris_whitters

You must save this hotel for your next trip to Cape Town 🇿🇦 After bouncing between a few Airbnb’s, it was a treat to be pampered in luxury at @oocapetown Beautiful people, amazing service and a very special meal at NOBU, which is downstairs. Highly recommend a couples massage at studiO as well. The only problem now is that this has set a very high bar for @zoemarkell 😂

My goal for the GC Half was to nose-breathe the entire race 👃🏼 I lasted 20km’s. Here’s what I learnt: – I was calm. Nose breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which helped make training and the run a more mindful experience 🧘🏼♂️ – Nose breathing while training helped me get fit. This is because breathing through the nose increases the production of nitric oxide, which helps dilate blood vessels, improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles. I didn’t quite hit my goal BUT felt pretty zen for most of the race. Are you a fan? Swipe for my podcast chat with breath lord, @deanogladstone 👉🏼👉🏼

Eye to eye with an African elephant 🐘 Day 2 of our safari was special! Highlights: • Stand off with the bull who is bigger than the truck • Cheeky baboon stealing peoples lunch and scaling the building • Zoe falling in love with and adopting the local kittens (crazy cat lady) • Search for the Rhino’s on the quad bikes (and hoping they don’t break down) • Making new friends by the pool • Dinner, bonfire and a stargazing tour So grateful for this experience 🙏🏼 📍 Aquila Private Game Reserve, Cape Town @aquilasafaris
The rhino at the end! 🦏 An unforgettable experience being in the wilderness and up close to these beautiful animals. This private game reserve is less than two hours away from Cape Town, which makes it a great option for day trips and overnight stays. This was our first game drive on the afternoon we arrived and we saw all of the big 5 with the exception of the illusive leopard. 📍Aquila Private Game Reserve, South Africa @aquilasafaris #southafrica #safari #southafricasafari #big5 #visitsouthafrica #thisissouthafrica
Why I love a solo trip 👇🏽 🎯 Recalibration We need to get out of our routine to properly take stock. A solo trip naturally forces us to reflect in ways we can’t when travelling with others. I bring a journal to think of areas in my life I’d like to course correct. 👩🏽🤝👨🏼Relationships Time apart gets me out of Zoe’s hair which I’m sure she appreciates every now and then 😂 Sometimes you need time apart to reflect on everything you’re grateful for. Distance makes the heart grow fonder. 🧘🏽♀️Connection It’s easy to fall into autopilot during the business of day-to-day life. A solo trip helps me reconnect with who I am and what I love. I quickly remember how much I benefit from being in bushland, similar to where I grew up. The sounds of Kookaburras and Magpies remind me of Dad and starring into a campfire connects us with ancient wisdom. The magic of @unyoked.co is that you’re forced back to the basics, often without phone reception, so you can properly eject from routine. It doesn’t take long for nature to do its thing and calm your nervous system, lower your heart rate and deliver a deep, peaceful sleep. Nature truly is an ancient remedy for modern times 🍃 #wilderness #cabin #australia
