Nothing but a hummingbird feeder and an iPhone can turn a cloudy cold day into a spectacular show of color. Love capturing these little beauties and their amazing feather displays. #shotoniphone

Home for a quick week and enjoying all of my favorite things. Family, our little backyard forest, and the local farmer’s markets 🌿🥕 Will be spending the majority of my time on the road for the first 7 months of the year filming #ExpeditionX, so I take in every moment at our Pacific Northwest home even in this rainy season! New episodes of #ExpeditionX drop starting next week on @discovery and @streamonmax, can’t wait to show you what we got into last year it was all pretty astounding 🙌🏼

Trying to fit in with the locals. A little behind the scenes of filming #ExpeditionX in Arkansas this past week! Horses one day, cottonmouths the next, 100° heat and air full of mosquitoes everyday 😰 📸 @cdlfilms

All new season of #ExpeditionX kicks off this week! A globe-trotting set of mysteries that push the limits on what we know is out there. Tune in this Wednesday night on @discovery @streamonmax as we return to the site of one of @gatesygram’s most haunting investigations, the Hoia Baciu forest of Romania.
Florida. Been blown away with the expansive wilderness out here, and how accessible nature and wildlife is for the public. Some highlights from this morning: red shouldered hawk, pileated woodpecker, white ibis, little blue heron, clamshell orchid, and a big ol’ gator.

There are few things in this world I love more than exploring a rainforest a night. Here’s a little taste of what I saw in Costa Rica earlier this month.
Heading back to Costa Rica in a couple weeks to spend time with family and of course to spend time with red eyed tree frogs like this! We’re starting by the coast, where I’ll be on the lookout for sea turtles, monkeys, and boas then heading up to the cloud forests where frogs, snakes, butterflies, and hummingbirds abound. Also— my favorite thing about the red eyed tree frog isn’t their red eye, it’s their lacy and golden nictitating membrane aka third eyelid that is unparalleled in the animal world.
Monos aulladores (howler monkeys), the 4am and 8pm roarers that let you know you’re in the American tropics. We saw these throughout Costa Rica, from the coastal tropical dry forest to the montane cloud forest. Even though this is a species I have encountered dozens and dozens of times, every time I see them I have to stop and stare and watch their little family units climb from tree to tree. #costarica #canonr5 #canonrf100500mm #monkey
