This is my entire wardrobe. 18 items – 4 shirts, 2 shorts, 1 pants, long underwear top and bottom, shawl, hat, cowl, wool booties, moccasins, 3 pairs of socks and a bag. All hand made. All natural fiber. All naturally dyed. Just as a deer could fall to the forest floor and return to the soil, so could I in these natural clothes. Wool, linen, cotton, deer leather and sinew and wood are the materials. Black walnut, indigo, weld, turmeric and iron rust are the dyes. It’s been a year since the first item was completed and 3 months since I shedded my last clothing from my former life. I can’t say it’s all been easy. Both shorts have ripped in the butt area and the soles of the shoes have already worn through. Many of the clothes were made too small and seams are breaking where they are too tight. They aren’t the most comfortable clothes I’ve ever worn… But this is all part of the experiment in reconnecting with Earth. I am elated for the trials and tribulations of it all. To live in harmony with Earth is to repair, to rethink and to reconstruct my possessions, my mind and all of my relations. My wardrobe is not fully complete, and I am calling out to the community for a few items! To keep my nose and head from burning I am seeking a sun hat. Felted wool or woven plants are my ideal materials, but I’m exploring the world of covering my head with the gifts of Earth! For warmth, I am seeking a wool sweater. Is there anyone with a homemade, natural fiber and naturally dyed sweater I could buy or borrow until this fall? Or someone who could make one this month? I can source and provide the local yarn! For soles for my shoes, I am seeking thick, naturally tanned leather as well as some sinew. I only need small chunks, so scraps could do. I’d also love to hear any experiences with long-lasting natural soles! To make padding for my backpack straps, I need some wool roving. I’m happy to purchase, trade, or receive as gifts for those who operate in a non-linear, more circular giving system like I do! This has been my home for the last 37 days and nights as I completed my Food Freedom book. I have come to known the creatures of this land. Every morning I watched the songbirds foraging in my kitchen for the grains and seeds I dropped. A turkey hen gave birth to six chicks and I have observed them near daily. Just one of the chicks is alive today. I know which perches the hummingbirds sit on and I watch them with joy. Each night that I inspected my spring water bathtub, the same three tree frogs were in there. They laid eggs and I’ve watched the tadpoles develop from a state of barely living to exuberant exploration. There is no doubt that the essence of this land has influenced my last 200 hours of writing and working on this book. But this is not the only land that has made its mark. The writing began in my tiny house in the city of Orlando surrounded by my gardens. Then came the simple wooden home in the food forest of Costa Rica where I nourished myself with tropical fruits. The spring season of Southern France as the hills re-greened during lockdown came next. There was the stint in the Chequamegon National Forest of Wisconsin and then in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and back to the shores of Lake Superior in a wood fired cabin near the shores of Lake Superior. At each of these locations, I thought the book would be complete. And each time I left with some disheartenment. But today, I wholeheartedly feel that the book was not ready until this very moment. I have learned so much in the last 4 years and the book has developed greatly. I’m ready to share this gift with the world. I’m sending the book to print in early June and expect the book to arrive the first week of July and will ship out promptly after. The book is available on a donation basis at robingreenfield.org/ff and 100% of the profits are donated to the food sovereignty movement. I will be hosting a few book readings along with a foraging walk and talk here in California: Santa Cruz – 5/30 San Francisco – 6/1 Oakland – 6/2 LA– 6/8 San Diego – 6/20 Also LA – 6/16 Simplify Your Life Gathering Details at robingreenfield.org/schedule Love, Robin

I’m going for a walk. Why? I just feel like walking. For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to the idea of taking a long walk. The time has come… The journey will begin at the Canada/US border in Washington and I’ll make my way down the Pacific coast to Los Angeles, 1,700 miles along the Pacific Coast Highway and other roads. I’ll live simply… Walk. Breathe. Be with Earth. Sleep outside. Rest and stretch my body. Harvest food and medicine from the land. Drink water. Swim in the Pacific Ocean, lakes and rivers. Read books. Think. I’ll spend time and talk with people who I meet along the path and who come to walk with me, practicing compassionate communication with each interaction. I’ll share my message through writing, speaking and being. Unlike my last ten plus years of activism and adventures I have no outward mission. This is for me. To… Slow down. Simplify. Be mindfully in the present moment. Deepen my gratitude for life. Fall in love with everything. Foster interconnectedness to all. Gain clarity and focus. Focus on peace within. Further my wholeness and completeness within. With each day, I’ll shed more of the past and walk into the present. I am letting go of so much. I am letting go of attachment to outcome, even thought of outcome. Although this walk is for me, the journey is part of the big picture. I have inner work to do to bring myself into higher truth and integrity and hone in my service to Earth, Humanity and the plants and animals we share this home with. I believe that this inner work and self-care is inherent to be the public servant I aim to be. Time with Earth will abound, but so will time with people. I’m not walking on a trail through the wilderness, but rather on the roads and highways through many towns and cities. I will continuously share updates of my whereabouts and my planned route so that I can be found by those who want to find me. I invite you to walk with me, or come sit with me wherever I’m making home for the evening. Over the last months I have really gotten to know the couple in this photo with me. You might be wondering exactly what is going on in this photo… Well that is Auri Jackson and Shawheen Keyani by my side, colleagues and now Dear Friends. Around me is every one of my material possessions. After multiple years of work to re-simplify my life, I have returned to the ultimate simplicity of everything I own fitting into a backpack. In the Fall of 2023, the three of us teamed up to produce School Lunch, a film where I would immerse in our public school lunch program and educate on this topic by eating only school lunch for an entire month. We worked closely together in planning for months and I arrived in Los Angeles in March, where we expected to film in April. After multiple changes of plans with schools, the project and the film was placed on pause. We were so excited to create this film together and we already had the support of Executive Producers Earth Conscious Life and Sarah Yeager, so we brainstormed numerous ideas. We settled upon a film about my life. This photo was taken on June 17th on the final day of filming and provides a tiny peek into the film that lies ahead. What exactly this film will be is a mystery to all of us right now. And most certainly a mystery to me. I’ve watched a few clips here and there on the little screen of Shawheen’s camera and what I’ve seen is beautiful. This is a skilled team and I am confident with placing my message into their creative minds to bring to you. Although I have done hundred of videos with media and over a thousand interviews, there is nothing sharing my life quite like this. It has been such a joy to work with Auri, Shawheen, Sebastiano Pestoni, Rob Herring and Sarah Yeager. I know we are in the works of creating something that will positively shift the lives of many through sharing a window into my life in love with Earth, humanity and our plant and animal relatives. We’ll share updates with you on the film when we have them! Love, Robin Directed and Produced by Auri Jackson @aurijackson and Shawheen Keyani @shawheenkeyani Executive Produced by Earth Conscious Life @theneedtogrow and Sarah Yeager

I compost my poop and I’m not ashamed of it. In fact, I take great joy in the act and in sharing this practice with others. These are two buckets of my own poop (mixed with sawdust of course) from my time in Los Angeles. I’ve used a flush toilets only a couple dozen times since I left Asheville 3 months ago. I’ve been taking part in the practice of composting poop, also called “humanure”, for close to a decade now. It is safe, effective and both a local and global solution for the times we are in. What I love about this practice is that it requires no money or resources, is very easy to do, and makes an instant positive contribution to our ecosystems. On the larger scale, if as a humanity we embraced this practice we could build our soils back up, break free from industrial fertilizers and corporate control and create incredible biodiversity and resilience. Imagine 8 billion humans poop being composted back into our soil, rather than flushed down the drain or dumped haphazardly. I have shared my love for the practice of humanure with thousands of people over the last decade. Today, I am looking for someone in LA who would like to start composting their poop at home. I’ll come over and build the simple compost toilet and compost pile with them. And I’ll kick start the pile with the contents of these two buckets! If this is you, please comment or email me! Hello from Port Townsend, Washington! I have been thinking of you every day… Yearning to write to you… There is so much alive in me and so much on the horizon that I have wanted to share. But I have not known where to start… As I reflect back on the first half of 2024, I see that I am not the same human I was before. There has been so much letting go… So much surrender to outcome… I have fostered much inner peace and a deep sense of wholeness and completeness within. I want to write and speak volumes to share my life with you… I will do this in the months ahead… For now, I have been quite busy. I am shedding what no longer serves me, continuing to unravel the web of the dominator society that I have been wrapped into. Continuing to replace each strand I break with strands of truth and integrity… I am often astounded by just how much work it takes to become liberated from the material world, especially the trappings of the digital world. The last two years, the last two months, the last two weeks have all been chapters in this pursuit. I feel strongly that each of the months ahead will yield life transformations for me. I am holding my plans within as I gain confidence and internal balance with them, but I continue to share with the people I spend precious moments with and occasional sharings online. I am eager to share more with you soon… Here in Port Townsend, besides continuing on the path of truth and integrity, I have a few main items on my agenda. I am waiting here for a shipment of my recently completed book, Food Freedom which is scheduled to arrive around August 1st. I am embarking on an experiment in the gift economy, offering the book completely free to anyone who requests it. I am also offering a Foraging School to share my connection with our plant relatives with all who seek to deepen their connection with these plants and Earth I have chosen this quiet location on the Olympic Peninsula to prepare myself for my next adventure, which will begin this month. Many of you who shared a moment with me in California know of this journey ahead. Each of you here will know soon and this is a journey you are all invited on. Love, Robin

For most of the last 40 days, Dan and Martha were the only humans I saw! And before then we’d never even met! In the urban setting of Los Angeles I was losing some of my balance, feeling a disconnect from Earth. I put out into the world that I was seeking a place where I could settle in for a month to finish writing my Food Freedom book, while living simply and connected with Earth. Without all the distractions and stimulations… Martha responded and said come on out to our little piece of land in the forest! Seven years ago Dan had found my first book at a used book shop in Santa Cruz and Martha’s been following me on social media ever since. They live off the grid out here in the Santa Cruz Mountains and have been out here for 40 years. It was a delight to hear their stories. At one time Martha lived out here with no electricity (not even a lightbulb)! While raising children! I took joy and inspiration from their simple living and I found their space to be one of great rejuvenation. I only left the land three times and never felt a desire to be anywhere else. They took a lot of joy in sharing this oasis they have been stewards too. They said a lot of people just don’t understand why they live the way they do. I guess most people want a lot more convenience and comfort. They really liked sharing the space with someone who was on the same page as them. Some see my life and assume that I am dependent upon on others for my way of being. And the truth is, yes I am. But my dependence does not take from others, rather it enriches the lives of others in most cases. The most wonderful gift that most of us ever receive, is to share what we love with someone and to have it loved equally as much. Not all of us have chosen the scarcity mindset. Some of us have chosen abundance, and that includes me. I am grateful to Martha and Dan for receiving me with open arms and sharing their home! And I am grateful to each of you who has supported my life of living in connection with humanity and Earth. Love, Robin
