The light was green, I was on the left lane, within the speed limit & flashed my headlights to give ample warning even though I had the right of way. Guess what? They simply didn’t care. Yup, didn’t give a damn & just rode out like it’s their ah gong’s road. I had to jam on the brakes to avoid killing them & best part was, they looked at me like it’s MY fault. I am not even ranting here, cos this is literally like the umpteenth time I’ve experienced such behavior. We all know about the clueless drivers out there who are totally oblivious to the perils of their poor driving habits. Well that’s just pure stupidity. But when we see cyclists doing things like running red lights, going against traffic, behaving like bullies and even riding on the expressways, it’s become a blatant disregard for the traffic laws & regulations that are meant to keep us safer. Let me be crystal clear, there’s a majority of safe, responsible and defensive riders out there. But it’s always the small group of bozos that ruin everything for everyone else ain’t it? Many of them simply do not care. Why? Because they know whatever happens, there’s no way to identify them like a car, bike or any registered and insured vehicle. So now we have cases of cyclists blatantly breaking rules, damaging other vehicles, crashing into pedestrians, & simply riding away. Perhaps it is time to register all bicycles in Singapore. A small visible license plate would allow the cyclists to be identified in cases of accidents, conflict or rule breaking. Such registration should be free, and insurance if any, should be minimal and not subjected to excessive profit making by the insurance companies. In case some cyclists are raging for me to be hanged for daring to infringe on their freedoms, let me just say that I am also a cyclist, so whatever I am humbly suggesting here, I will also be subjected to. Then why risk the possible wrath? Because I just want our roads to be a safer place for us all. Regardless of how many wheels you might have. #taypinghui #taypinghuisayone #cyclist #road
Such an honor and pleasure to be working with these veterans from Hong Kong. I literally watched their shows growing up and it’s so cool that they welcomed me with such open arms. A throwback to long hair and ponytail… Do I miss it? Not at all… nowadays I prefer to spend no more than 1 minute on my hair. Simplicity. Best. 回顾长发披肩的日子,自问有否怀念?坦白说还真的没有,现在打理超过一分钟都嫌麻烦。 简单就是最好的。 #Taypinghui #郑斌辉 #throwback #throwbackthursday #manbun #longhair
To plagiarize someone else’s intellectual/artistic work is akin to stealing from them and claiming ownership. In this case, not only did this thief steal from us, he turned around and accused us of stealing from him. When questioned, he doubled down, produced video “testimonies” to justify his lies, stated that all the evidences were somehow miraculously destroyed in a flood. He even attributed the whole incident as “coincidental” (which btw, whoever believes that the 2 songs were “coincidentally” similar, needs to get their ears checked, and their brains inspected) He was eventually exposed, and merely apologized for inconvenience caused. Yup, waved away a criminal act and pretended like it was nothing, sounds familiar. Some individuals have called for calm, I say no, because I am pissed, because this charlatan have stepped on our national song. I mean, he can’t even be smart enough to choose a more obscure song to plagiarize, how idiotic can he be? Mr. Joseph Mendoza. Shame on you. #taypinghuisayone #buaysong
This was sent to me and tbh I dunno whether to take this as a compliment, because while the ever wonderful @jeanetteaw mentioned me, she took soooooo long that it almost seemed like she said my name because bobian!!! 😂🤦🏻♂️😂 Nonetheless, I also want to say that you’re in my top 3 of most sweeeet ok!!? OK!🤪 #taypinghui @jeanetteaw #jeanetteaw #taypinghuisayone #sweet
( continued from Part 1…) Blindly defending those amongst one’s own community who are behaving badly, is akin to indulging a petulant child, however well intentioned, will only breed ever-worsening behavior. Strawman arguments and cognitive dissonance will only distract us from the main issue- which is about holding irresponsible cyclists accountable for their actions. Because they are the primary culprits that are destroying the reputation of the entire cycling community. To the cycling community I would like to say this, I am not the enemy. I have nothing against cyclists in general. If anything, I actually think we should encourage cycling as a healthy, alternative way of transportation and leisure. That is why we need to move toward making it safer for everyone, cyclists and motorists alike, and the current system can definitely do much better. We need to resolve this unhealthy divide that is growing exponentially, and throwing insults at each other is definitely not the constructive way to go. Education, patience and understanding are essential, but we desperately need a baseline of accountability to build upon. We are all in this together. Cyclists and motorists alike. We need to stop this degradation before it’s too late, because the last thing we want, is the implementation of extreme corrective measures because of some major loss of lives, and cycling meets the same sorrowful demise as our beloved PMDs. #taypinghui #taypinghuisayone #cyclists #drivers #weareallinthistogether

Mid range jump shot outside the paint for an easy basket. No sweat. Now how about 2 more? 3 more? How about 30 more? Behind every easy looking feat lies hours and hours of practice. Talent can only take us that far in becoming good at what we do. Only an unrelenting desire for perfection and tireless practice can make us legendary. I am a long way from legendary, but I ain’t gonna stop trying.
“I would rather die fighting, than to surrender to my enemies” These were my lines as Genghis Khan in “ The Legend of the Condor Hero”. He was betrayed by his sworn brothers who colluded with the foreign rulers who wanted to kill him because he dared to dream of uniting the country and stand up against foreign oppression. In the end, he stood victorious, because he never gave up. Covid is tough and times are bad but I believe that as long as we do not surrender, we shall eventually beat this bloody pandemic. Happy #throwback Thursday y’all.

It’s been a while since my last post and the furore that followed was unexpectedly explosive. It’s absolutely heartwarming that so many people, drivers and cyclists alike, supported me on so every levels. Thank y’all for your affirmation! For the many video forensic experts who did a second-by-second analysis of my video, these facts remain. I was already in the left lane 70metres before the cross junction. I was traveling at about 51km/h. I was about 32m away when I saw the first 2 cyclists filter out. I immediately flashed my headlights to give ample warning, applying the brakes at the same time. Within 2.4 seconds, I not only had to react, I also needed to make an immediate decision on whether to Ebrake and stop, or swerve to the right (in the middle of a yellow boxed cross junction no less) risking my life and endangering any vehicle that might be diagonally behind me. Thankfully I managed to come to a stop and avoided an accident. Only after ensuring that it was absolutely safe, I later filtered right and overtook them. Despite the undeniable facts, some were able to miraculously access my brain and somehow conclude that it was due to an ego which was too big to slow down nor give way. Some pontificated that 2.4secs/32m was more than enough time and distance to react and analyze the situation at hyper speed, coolly filter right, change lanes and move on with my life (Now I know why people say hindsight is always 20/20). Some even went as far as to accuse me of sowing hate against cyclists. One cannot help but feel the irony when so many of those who righteously chastised me for not being gracious enough, have done so with pretty ungracious words. They preached the merits of defensive driving, vehemently declaring how cyclists are the vulnerable group, which I totally agree. Then the question is, knowing that they are the vulnerable group, shouldn’t they of all people, practice defensive riding all the more? (To be continued…) #taypinghui #taypinghuisayone #cyclist #drivers #weareallinthistogether
