Varun Grover Instagram – Got super busy right after this day (as my standup solo India tour ended and @allindiarankmovie promotions began) but this day in Kolkata was the most joy-filled core memory of recent times. Spent a day in awe of the love for food and stories (and stories told through food) cooked by @bongeats (Insiya and Saptarshi). @sreemoyee.singh joined us for the relaxed, wholesome winter lunch – and WHAT A LUNCH it was!
1. Insiyar Sansar.
2. Aamudi fish bhaaja being finished by Saptarshi while Insiya tempers the silent-rockstar of the meal, Masur Daal.
3. The table being laid. Narkel Bora, Pepe Shukto (Shukto made with Raw Papaya) Aamudi bhaaja, Pabda’r Tel Jhol, and inside the box – the most royal Chitol Machher Muitha.
4. A closer look at Pabda’r Tel Jhol, with the most delicate-crunchy boris on top. Teasing from the corner in the back, the palette cleanser Imli Chutney/Jhol.

8. We also realised that Insiya and I share our birth date (26th January) and just by chance, Sreemoyee had brought a freshly baked, very unique Pear cake. So of course we cut it on this day, 27th January.
