What an incredible afternoon! I loved hosting @blmuk Festival of Collective Liberation. Inspired by the Black Radical Tradition and building upon the long legacy of Black anti-colonial liberation organising in Britain, the day was made up of panel discussions (by deeply knowledgeable, informed speakers) STRATEGY debates, keynote speeches, workshops, trainings as well as art and music. As well as international solidarity, the conference explored black resistance in the labour movement, police and prison abolition, migration and climate justice, bodily autonomy, cultural and artistic resistance as well as black radical education. They also announced Project Timbuktu, BLM’s inaugural political education course which is hugely important and exciting 🖤🖤🖤

July Live Events ! Some goodies here frfr So my mind is actually blown from the scale of this exhibition and the range of Tavares Strachans vision imagination His work is so extraordinary not just for its visual awesomeness expeditionary achievements (from Artic explorations to the launching of satellites) but the fact that all of this is underpinned by epistemic concerns ~ an unsettling of colonial knowledge systems their archives. Strachan’s approach to time; collapsing neat distinctions between past, present and future, as well as its defiance of rigid categorisation makes this ontologically black work, a powerful antidote to the limitations of colonial epistemic traditions! This is one conversation I am hugely excited for 🧠💥 The following day will be in convo discussing one of my favourite novels ; James Baldwin’s Another Country in celebration of the centenary of his birth ! “Explorations of the complexities and dynamics of race, gender and sexuality are central to his work but rather than reify identity, Baldwin unravels it, and in doing so offers profound insights not just into the specificities of the identities he examines, but rather into the very nature of what it is to be human in the 20th century (and presciently the 21st!) Delighted also to the hosting the U.K. BLM National Festival organised in the spirit and radical tradition of Black anti-imperialist conferences that have come before us, such as the fifth Pan-African conference which took place in 1945 it aims to provide a platform for education, organising, and community building through panel talks and workshops and ie designed to bring together Black and anti-imperialist activists and groups in Britain to strengthen anti-racist organising 🖤🖤🖤 WE MOVE 🖤🖤🖤
