My eight-year-old has suddenly become my household paparazzi. I try to play nice and smile for the camera, but sometimes…🤨😂
Thank you @lost_theothers for digging up this (nearly twenty-year-old) footage of me speaking out my dreams under (what looks like) a full moon 🌝 And thank you to @femalepoetssociety for digging up this (much older) footage of the incredible #mayaangelou perfectly articulating how I feel about life. I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY. 🕊️💪🏽😊
The most notable thing that middle age seems to have changed in me is this: Instead of wanting to be the people I admire, I now find myself rooting for them. Instead of wanting to compete with my peers, I now want to see them succeed. Instead of seeing little merit in the young, I want to invest in them. It’s a miraculous shift that feels like the beginning of becoming a good elder. #elderintraining 📸 bts from photoshoot w @austinhargrave #nyc #midlife #midlifetransition #middleage #wisdom #growth #love

Shame on @CNN for neglecting to include the independent presidential candidate, @robertfkennedyjr, in their televised debate. Every candidate has a right to be heard and every voter has a right to hear from ALL the candidates on the issues. If you want to hear the full debate, including RFK, you can see it by searching “the real debate”. You will find it on YouTube (link in bio). #debate #presidentialdebate #presidentialdebate2024 #uspresidentialelections #robertfkennedyjr
I have been working in Rwanda for twenty-years now and no matter how many times I read about the horrific massacre that took place there in 1994, I am unable to be unaffected by this story of division and hatred. If ever there were a lesson for all of the world about being stronger, mentally and emotionally, than to succumb to propagandist ideas that vilify and dehumanize another group of humans, this is one of them. Civil war and genocide does not begin with violence, it begins with ideas and ideologies. It begins with believing the lie of “the other”. All over the world we are collectively succumbing to this dividing rhetoric, choosing to believe that we are truly locked in an existential battle with our fellow man, with our neighbour, even with our own family members and friends. Now is the time for us all to read the first hand accounts of genocide survivors and civil war refugees. Especially us in the West who have had the privilege of peace for so long. Let us not, in our privilege and ignorance be the next perpetrators of atrocity. Let us not be blindly lead into our own goodnight. Please, when you read this caption, don’t think of someone else who you can point the finger at for participating in this behaviour but only check yourself, and check yourself DEEPLY and INTIMATELY; have no mercy, don’t make excuses, check to see if you aren’t starting to think of another group of humans as less deserving of life and rights than you are. 🙏🏼 Now is not the time for casting stones but checking ourselves for blame, doing the hard, hard work of untangling from the addictive and captivating rhetoric and stepping into the necessary grace of discussion, olive branches and hope.

I was introduced to @antipodesskincare by @hilseycook over ten years ago on the set of The Hobbit. While in New Zealand I was spoiled with their local skincare products like Trilogy and Antipodes, but Antipodes is the one that stuck. I love, love, love their Grapeseed Oil Butter Cleanser, their Vanilla Pod Hydrating Daycream, their Manuka Honey eye cream and their Avocado Pear night cream. (Obvs I have very dry skin). They are not paying me to say this, I’ve just been asked by enough people what I use on my skin that I thought I’d show you with a little unboxing video. Enjoy! (The products, not the video. Though, if you do enjoy the video, too, I won’t fault you for that. 😉💋) 🎶 Old Skin by @olafurarnalds #hobbit #thehobbit #tauriel #elf #skincare #middleage #middleagedwoman
